Menu Dashboard

Guidelines for Restaurants


The new Zomato Menu Dashboard allows restaurants to take control of their menu listings on
Zomato. The restaurant can create a new menu from scratch, change item price, create new
items, mark items as out of stock, add a description and photos for the menu items, among
other key actions listed below:

Guidelines for key actions:

1. Change the price of an item (Video: https://youtu.be/MYSuax3glIo)


a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Click on the category which contains the item you want to change the price for.
This will open the item list under that category. You can alternatively use the
search bar on the top to find the item.
c. Click on the item you want to change the price for
d. On clicking the item name, you’ll be able to see its details view on the right side.
e. Under ITEM PRICING, click on the price input box and enter the new price.

f. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.

2. Mark an item as recommended (Video: https://youtu.be/xZOueHZfvBE)


a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Click on the category (eg. Starters, Main Course) which contains the item you
want to mark as recommended. This will open the item list under that category..
You can alternatively use the search bar on the top to do this.
c. Place your mouse over the item you want to mark as recommended
3. Make a category available for specific duration
a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Place your mouse over the category you want to mark as Out of Stock,
c. Click on the overflow icon (three vertical dots) in front of the category name.
d. Clicking on the overflow button will open a dropdown. Select Add Timings.

e. This will open a pop up, under which you can select the specific time duration or
date or specific day of the week, you want that category to be available. Once
you have selected the specific duration, click on the Save button at the bottom of
the pop up.
f. Click on the Save button at the top of the screen. The changes will start reflecting
on your menu in the Zomato app immediately.

4. Create a new item like Dal Makhni (Video: https://youtu.be/H-XePHkNiCU)


a. Click on the Add Item button at the top. This will open an empty item details form
in the right panel

b. Start filling the following details

Section Example

Name of the Dish Dal Makhni

Price of the Dish Rs. 105

Description Creamy and buttery Dal Makhani is


one of India's most loved dal! This dal
has whole black lentils cooked with
butter and cream

Tax on the Item 2.5% CGST + 2.5% SGST

Specific Charges on the Item Rs. 20 Packaging Charge

Tags Veg/Non Veg, Gluten Free, New

Variant Pricing Half - Rs. 105 , Full - Rs. 210


Add-Ons Beverages - Coke, Sprite, Iced Tea

c. After filling in the details, click on the Save button on the top. The changes will
start reflecting on your menu in the Zomato app immediately.

5. Create a new category


a. Click on the Add Category under the Add button at the top
b. Enter the name of the category, e.g. Starters. Press Enter

c. Enter the name of the subcategory, eg. Non-Veg Starters


d. This will create the category, and you can start adding items under this category
like Chicken Tikka and so on as described in the guidelines for action 1.
e. Click on the star button to mark the dish as recommended. The empty star will
turn golden. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting
on your menu in the Zomato app immediately.

6. Apply taxes to a particular item


a. Open the menu dashboard
b. Click on the category which contains the item you want to apply/edit taxes. This
will open the item list under that category. You can alternatively use the search
bar on the top to find the item.
c. Click on the item
d. On clicking the item name, you’ll be able to see its details view on the right side.
e. Under TAXES and CHARGES, click on the taxes input box and choose from a
bunch of options (eg. [email protected]%, GST@9%) in the dropdown
f. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.

7. Apply specific charges (eg. packaging charge) to a particular item


a. Open the menu dashboard
b. Click on the category which contains the item you want to add/edit extra charges
for
c. This will open the item list under that category. You can alternatively use the
search bar on the top to find the item.
d. Click on the item
e. On clicking the item name, you’ll be able to see its details view on the right side.
f. Under TAXES and CHARGES, click on the charges input box and choose from a
bunch of options (eg. Rs. 20 Packaging Charge) in the dropdown
g. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.

8. Add a photo for an item


a. Open the menu dashboard
b. Click on the category which contains the item you want to upload a photo for.
This will open the item list under that category. You can alternatively use the
search bar on the top to find the item.
c. Click on the item
d. On clicking the item name, you’ll be able to see its details view on the right side.
Scroll up the details view to find IMAGES section
e. Click on the plus icon, it will open a window

f. Select the image on your computer that you want to upload for the item.
g. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.

9. Add tags (eg. New, Exclusive) to an item


a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Click on the category which contains the item you want to add a tag to. This will
open the item list under that category. You can alternatively use the search bar
on the top to find the item.
c. Click on the item you want to add tags to
d. On clicking the item name, you’ll be able to see its details view on the right side.
Scroll up the details view to find the TAGS section at the bottom

e. Click on the specific tags you want to display next to the item name on your
Zomato menu.
f. Click on the Save button on the top. The tags will start reflecting on your menu in
the Zomato app immediately.

10. Mark an item as Out of Stock


a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Click on the category which contains the item you want to mark as out of stock.
This will open the category list. You can alternatively use the search bar on the
top to find the item.
c. Place your mouse over the item you want to mark as Out of Stock
d. Click on the green toggle button to mark the dish as out of stock. The toggle
button will turn grey.
e. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.

11. Mark a category (eg. beverages) as Out of Stock


a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Place your mouse over the category you want to mark as Out of Stock,
c. Click on the green toggle button to mark the dish as out of stock. The toggle
button will turn grey.
d. Click on Save. the changes will start reflecting on your menu in the Zomato app
immediately.

12. Delete an item / category


a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Place your mouse over the category or item you want to mark as Out of Stock
c. Click on the green toggle button to mark the dish as out of stock. The toggle
button will turn grey.

d. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.

13. Create an item with Variants


a. Create an item using the steps in #1
b. Click on the Add Customisation box in the Item Details pane. This will open a
pop-up window
c. Under this window, select the property like quantity (half, full) you want to use to
create variants. For most of the regular Indian curries, “Quantity” would be
applicable. For a pizza, these properties could be pizza size, pizza crust
d. Once the property is defined, fill in the price for each variant created on the
window. Once you have entered the price, close the window.
e. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.

14. Provide users with optional add-ons like beverages along with an item
a. Open the Menu dashboard
b. Click on the category which contains the item you want to apply/edit taxes. This
will open the item list under that category. You can alternatively use the search
bar on the top to find the item.
c. Click on the item
d. In the item details pane, click on the box under Customisation. This will open a
popup window. Click on the Add-ons tab in this window
e. Click on ‘Create an add-on group’
f. Enter details to be filled

g. Once the selection add on group has been created. It will start showing on the
right side of the window. Click on the ‘+’ plus icon of the Add-on group created
h. Clicking on it will make the add-on group (beverages, in this case) available to all
the variants of the item
i. Click on the Save button on the top. The changes will start reflecting on your
menu in the Zomato app immediately.
