MODULE 4

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT

INTRODUCTION
This module covers the following topics: Institutional Services, consist of the Scholarship and Grants
Services, Campus Ministry Services and the Institutional Community Extension Services, University
Facilities that includes Internet Facilities, Sports Development Facilities and Laboratories.

The lesson is intended to provide you information about the scholarship opportunities available in the
University, the University facilities and maximize the use of facilities accessible for you. 

Moreover, this covers participation in the various community extension activities that enhance social
responsibility and volunteerism. 

Further, this module consists of lesson on the ten (10) tips for good mental health and well-being such
get plenty of sleep, eat well, do not drink alcohol, do not smoke and say no to drugs, get plenty of
sunlight, manage stress, do activity and exercise, do something you enjoy, connect with others and be
sociable, do things for others, and ask for help.

I will be available for consultation and guide you with the tasks as well as in giving feedback on the
submission and participation.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this module, you should be able to :
1. Identify the scholarship opportunities available in the university 
2. Organize or participate in the various community extension activities that enhance social
responsibility and volunteerism
3. Identify the various university facilities 
4. Maximize the use of facilities accessible for students
5. Demonstrate self-care and social skills that would help you become physically and mentally
healthy

TOPIC 1 SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANTS SERVICES


The arm of the University in making education accessible to deserving students who are academically
good, financially challenged, possess special skills and talents with a vision to avail scholarship if found
deserving.
TOPIC 2 INSTITUTIONAL COMMUNITY EXTENSION SERVICES

Prime concern of the ICES is to develop socially aware and responsible students who are responsible and
proactive in responding to local partner community needs for sustainable development.

TOPIC 3 CAMPUS MINISTRY SERVICES


This will encourage everyone in the University community to appreciate God’s love, live a wonderful life
and participate in socio-liturgical activities when time warrants.

TOPIC 4 UNIVERSITY FACILITIES


The students are encouraged to maximize the use of University facilities such as implementing physical
fitness programs, sports competitions, technical support in various sports events, and accessing sites
which are not research based is strictly prohibited including chatting, games, assessing Youtube videos,
entertainment and the like.

TOPIC 5 SELF CARE


Taking care of yourself physically and improving your mental health, show some love to someone in
your life, family and friends, these are key for a happy life. Exercise keeps the brain and your vital organs
healthy.

ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES


A self-study mode, reflective and collaborative learning describe the printed modular approach in this
course. You are expected to read the College Student Handbook. Comply with Assignment 1 at your own
pace and time during week 8-9 of this course. You are expected to collaborate with your co-learners in
doing the activities required in this lesson.

Learning Activity 4.1

Read College Student Handbook and answer the following:

1. What are the Guidelines on the use of School Facilities and Grounds?
2. Identify the scholarship opportunities available in the University
3. What are the policies and guidelines on the use of Library Internet Facilities?
4. Prepare a proposal to conduct half-day activity in your community to distribute a
personal hygiene kit or a project of your choice.

In writing submit your answers at designated pick-up points on specified time.

Learning Activity 4.4 Mental Health Self-Care

Read about the tips for good mental health and well-being using the reference books, and do
the following tasks:

1. Prepare a self-care meal plan according to nutritional values for three (3) meals in a day,
taken from your Food Pyramid. 

1. Create a mind map on how you can achieve and maintain your good mental health and well-
being. From this mind map, create a plan to develop and maintain good mental health and
well-being for yourself. Also, include in your plan the 5-steps in developing positive mental
health. (connect, be active, keep learning, give to others, take notice.)

1. Explain why lack of sleep is bad for your health? (in 200 words)
