Download, Store, and Share PDFs

With PDF Reader Pro Edition, you can connect to your cloud storage accounts, download PDFs
from the Web, transfer them to and from your computer, and share them via email.

PDF Reader Pro Edition integrates with iCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, and more. Simply set
up access to your accounts, and start sharing your files via the cloud and email. You can work
offline to edit, review, and annotate PDFs. When you’re ready, connect to the Internet and
store and share your files.

Store your files securely with Vault, a feature that allows you to store important files in a pass-
word-protected folder.

And if you don’t have a document stored in the cloud, PDF Reader Pro Edition still has you cov-
ered. You can scan any printed document using your device camera and then turn it into a
PDF. You can then edit and annotate your scanned files and then store them or share them.

PDF Reader Pro Edition has powerful collaboration tools. You can connect to another user on
a nearby device or collaborate at a distance. You and your collaborator will see edits and an-
notations happen in real time!

Store PDFs in iCloud

Link your iCloud account to PDF Reader Pro Edition in your device settings.

• Turn on iCloud and PDF Reader Pro Edition in your iCloud settings.

Store PDFs in Vault

Vault is a feature in PDF Reader Pro Edition that provides secure document storage. Store your
important PDFs in Vault, secured with a password. You can also unlock your Vault folder using
Touch ID, if you have it enabled.

To set up Vault

• click the lock icon; set and verify a password.

• enter the security questions and answers when prompted.
To store a document in Vault

• click Manage, select the document, select Move, select Vault.

To open Vault and access your secure documents

• click the lock icon.

Download PDFs From the Web

Access a Web page that contains a PDF or go directly to the PDF url.

1. In the menu on the Docs screen, click Network.

2. In the Browse the Web field, enter the url of a Web page or PDF, and click Go.

You will see the downloaded PDF listed under Recent downloads and in the list on the Docs
screen.

Connect to Your Accounts in the Cloud

Store or share your files by connecting to your accounts in the cloud. You can upload files or
download files from your server or cloud accounts, such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Sugar Sync
and Box.

• You must first connect to the service and authorize access.

• You can then move files to and from these accounts and edit them in PDF Reader
Pro Edition.

To connect your accounts:

1. In the menu on the Docs screen, click Network.

2. Next to Connect to server; make sure Edit mode is showing.

3. To connect your accounts, select the service you want to add.

4. Enter your credentials as requested, such as username and password, and sign in.
Your linked folders and files will appear.

• Click a file to download, or click Upload, and select a file to upload.

You can click Close to go back to your Networks.

Store your documents in iCloud

PDF Reader Pro Edition will be added to your iCloud Drive settings after installation.

1. On your iOS device, go into your settings and authorize PDF Reader Pro Edition to
access your iCloud files.

2. On your iOS device, go into Settings > iCloud and turn iCloud On.

3. Turn On Allow apps to store documents and data in iCloud.

Scan Files to PDF

Use your device camera to scan files and convert them to PDFs.

1. From the menu on the Docs screen, click Scan.

2. Select the camera icon to snap a photo, or select the file icon to choose a photo
from your camera roll or photo library. You can enable access in device settings;
otherwise, you’ll be prompted to authorize access the first time you use this fea-
ture.

3. Click Make PDF.

4. Enter a name for the PDF, and click OK.

You image is transformed into a PDF and appears in your list of PDF files in PDF Reader Pro
Edition.

Transfer Files To and From Your Computer

You can easily and securely copy your PDF files from your Mac or PC using the USB or WiFi
sharing feature.

When connecting via USB, use iTunes to file share. On installation PDF Reader Pro Edition will
be added as a file sharing app.

1. Find your device in iTunes.

2. Click Apps and scroll to the bottom of the screen.

3. In the list of file sharing apps, click PDFReader Pro. Your PDF Reader Pro Edition
documents will appear on the right.

4. Simply drag and drop PDFs between the iTunes screen and a folder on your com-
puter.

Share Files and Collaborate

To collaborate with friends or colleagues, you can either open a document and share, or you
can start collaborating in real time from the Docs screen.

Email

You can open PDFs from email and share via email. Share PDFs via email from the PDF Reader
Pro Edition Home screen or share directly from a document.

To share a PDF via email from PDF Reader Pro Edition Home screen:

1. Click the email icon at the bottom of the PDF Reader Pro Edition Home screen. On
iPhone, click Manage to get the email icon.

2. Select the PDF you want to share via email.

3. From the options, select whether you want to send the entire document, specific
pages, or a flattened copy that creates a copy of the file with annotations, but the
annotations cannot be edited.

4. Click Send.

To share a PDF via email from within a document:

1. Open the PDF you want to share.

2. In the menu, click the share icon.

3. In the new menu that appears, click the email icon.

4. From the options, select whether you want to send the entire document, specific
pages, or a flattened copy that creates a copy of the file with annotations, but the
annotations cannot be edited.

5. Click Send.

To open a PDF from email:

1. Touch and hold your finger or stylus on the PDF that appears in your email.

2. In the options that appear, select Copy to PDFReader Pro.

The PDF will open in PDF Reader Pro Edition.

Print PDF

Print your PDF files and annotations directly from PDF Reader Pro Edition.

Note: you must have an AirPrint, or wireless, printer for this option to work.

1. Open the PDF you want to share.

2. In the menu, click the share icon.

3. In the new menu that appears, click the printer icon.

4. Select the printer on your network.

5. Select the number of copies to print.

6. Select the range of pages to print, or print All Pages.

Collaborate in Real Time

You can collaborate in real time from an open document, or you can start collaborating from
the Docs screen. You can collaborate with a device within range using Local collaboration, or
you can connect with a device not in range using Distance collaboration and an ID and pass-
word.

Note: To collaborate in real time, each collaborator must have PDF Reader Pro Edition installed,
and the device must be ONLINE.

1. Either open a PDF you want to share and click the share icon, or start from the PDF
Reader Pro Edition Home screen.

2. Select the collaborate icon for Local or Distance collaboration.

3. Place your device ONLINE.

• For Local collaboration, select another device with which you want to share and
collaborate.

 • For Distance collaboration, enter the Friend ID and password of your collaborator.
PDF Reader Pro Edition generates an ID and password for each collaborator.

4. If you are starting a collaboration session from the Home screen, select the docu-
ment you want to share.

You may be prompted to send your document to the other person if they do not already have
this document.

You’ll see changes to your PDF taking place in real time as you collaborate.

Working in Documents

When you open a document, you will see a new icon menu. Let’s take a look at these icons
and what they can do.

• annotation menu

Note that in smaller displays, such as iPhone, the icon menu may appear at the bottom of the
screen and may include additional functions:

• > displays more menu items

• < displays previous menu items
• - collapses the menu
• + displays the menu

Annotations

Click the annotations icon to access the annotation menu. Annotations are fully compatible
with Apple Preview and Adobe Acrobat.

Note: If you are on iPhone, use the < and > icons to move through the menu for more anno-
tation functions.

Select Colors for Annotations

• Click the icons to select colors for the highlight, underline, and strikeout functions.
• For other functions, you can edit the colors by selecting the annotation (see Edit
Annotations).

Edit Annotations

Once you make an annotation, you have some options for editing the following types of anno-
tations:

• text box
• sticky note
• free highlight
• freehand
• line
• arrow
• rectangle
• oval

To edit the annotation:

1. Click the annotation. For example, if you drew a rectangle around some text, click
the rectangle.

2. A pop-up menu appears, allowing you to edit your annotation.

The editing options change for each type of annotation. The following options may be available
in the pop-up menu, depending on the annotation type:

• change color
• click three dots for more colors
• open sticky notes
• edit text boxes
• delete
• move
• resize

• The three dots in the pop-up menu will open a color wheel to give you more color
options.

Create a Sticky Note

1. Click the sticky note icon.

2. Select a color for the note.

3. Tap on the device screen to place the sticky note.

4. Type your note in the text box that opens.

5. Tap anywhere on the screen to close the sticky note.

Edit a Sticky Note

1. Click on the sticky note located in the PDF.

2. Click Open in the pop-up menu.

3. Edit the note in the text box that appears.

Add a Text Box

1. Click the text box icon.

2. Tap on the device screen to place the text.

3. Type your note in the text box that opens.

4. Tap anywhere on the screen to place the text.

Mark Up Text with Colors and Annotations

You can use highlights, lines and other drawing tools to mark up text. Simply click the icon,
select a color, and then use your finger or a stylus to mark up the PDF.

• To use the highlight tool, move your finger across the text to highlight.
• To use the underline tool, move your finger across the text to underline.
• To strikeout text, move your finger across the text to strikeout.
• To use the free highlight tool, use your finger to draw the highlighted area. The
highlight color will be transparent.
• Use the freehand tool to draw anything on the PDF. The color will be fully saturated,
as opposed to transparent.
• Use the line tool to draw a straight line.
• Use the arrow tool to draw an arrow. Start drawing at the place where you want the
arrow to point.
• Use your finger to draw a rectangle or square.

Using iPad Pencil & 3D Touch

PDF Reader Pro Edition includes support for the Apple Pencil (available on iPad Pro) and 3D
Touch (available on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus). With Apple Pencil and 3D Touch, you can draw
lines of any weight by applying pressure to the Apple pencil (for iPad Pro) or by using your
finger (iPhone 6s and 6s Plus). These features work in PDF Reader Pro Edition for the free high-
light and freehand drawing tools.

If you want to manually adjust line weights in PDF Reader Pro Edition, click the lock icon and
use the slider to adjust line weights.

Add Dynamic Stamps

With the stamp icon, you can add any of the stamps included as options, or add your own.

1. Click the stamp icon.

2. Select Standard to choose and existing stamp.

3. Select Custom to create your own stamp.

4. Tap on the device screen to add your stamp to the PDF.

5. Once added, click the stamp in the PDF and select Move to move the stamp within
the PDF.

Fill in and Sign Forms

When you open a form in PDF Reader Pro Edition, you can click in the fields and start typing.
You can also add a signature or any of the dynamic stamps.

Add an Image

Use the camera icon to add an image to a PDF. Click the icon and then select whether to use
your device to take a photo or to select an image from your Photo Library.

Access More Document Options

When you have a document open, a special icon, which looks like an eye, opens a new icon
menu that allows you to access a few more functions:

• night mode
• reflow mode
• create new PDFs

Switch to Night Mode

• The moon icon allows you to turn on or off night mode.

Display Text Without Formatting

• Reflow mode, the paper icon with an arrow, displays text only, without formatting or
annotations.

Create New PDFs from Specific Pages

• Using the four-square icon, create new PDFS from specific pages selected from the
currently open PDF.

Bookmark & Outline PDFs

Bookmark pages in your PDF files to find them later quickly, and add outlines to create or mod-
ify a table of contents for your document directly from your iOS device. Outlines are preserved
when you share documents, but bookmarks are only stored locally on your device.

1. Open to a page in the document to bookmark it or to add a heading to an outline.

2. In the menu, click the book icon.

On the next screen a new menu appears. The book icon with the plus sign is for adding book-
marks and outlines. The second book icon is for viewing bookmarks, outlines and annotations.

3. Click the book plus icon.

 4. In the popup, either

• select Bookmark and enter a name for the bookmark

• select Outline and enter a name for the outline heading

5. Click Done on your device virtual keypad.

To view your bookmarks, outlines, and annotations:

1. In the open document, click the second book icon.

2. Use the tabs at the top of the screen to see your outline, bookmarks and annota-
tions.

Flatten a PDF

If you want to send or share a PDF that is not editable, you can flatten it.

When you share a PDF via email, you will always see the option to send a flattened PDF. You
can also flatten and save an opened PDF using the flatten icon.

Rotate a Page or All Pages

The rotate icon in the menu gives you four options for rotating pages and entire documents.

• The first two icons rotate only the visible page.

• The second two icons rotate all of the pages in the document.

Manage & Organize Documents

With the Manage menu on the Documents screen, you have full control over how your docu-
ments are organized.

When you click the Manage menu, you’ll get another menu at the bottom of the screen. Here
you can

Note: Copying saves a copy of the PDF in the original location and creates a new copy in the
new location. Moving deletes the original PDF and moves it to a new location that you specify.

Open PDFs in other Apps

You can open your PDFs in other apps directly from PDF Reader Pro Edition.

1. Click Open In.

2. Select the app you want to use to open the PDF.

View PDFs as Icons

You can change the view of your list of PDFs from a list to icons. You can even sort the order.

• Click View in the menu at the top of the screen.

• Select whether you want to view as a list or as icons.
• Select the sort order.

Spotlight Search

PDF Reader Pro Edition works with Spotlight Search on the home screen of your iPad or iPhone.
You can search for PDFs stored in the PDF Reader Pro Edition app.

Quick Actions

On iPhone (6s and 6s Plus) you can use Quick Actions. With Quick Actions you can see recent
files that you’ve worked on in PDF Reader Pro Edition and you can scan directly from the Home
screen.

To access Quick Actions, press firmly on the PDF Reader Pro Edition app icon located on your
device Home screen.
