Western Classical Art Traditions: Classical Era
Greek architects provided some of the finest and most distinctive
buildings in the entire Ancient World. Roman Architecture continued the
legacy left by the earlier architects of the Greek, and the Roman respect for
this tradition and their reverence for the established architectural orders,
especially the Corinthian, is evident in many of their large public buildings.
Greek Architecture
Temples consisted of a
central shrine or room in an
aisle surrounded by rows of
columns. These buildings were
designed in one of three
architectural style or orders:

WEEK 7: VOLLEYBALL SPORTS OFFICIATING
12
EXPECTATIONS
In this lesson, you will learn the knowledge and skills
needed in Volleyball Officiating. Specifically, this module will help you
to;
1. Identify the important Volleyball terminologies
2. Demonstrate hand signals
3. Assume responsibility of officiating officials
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
13
Practice the hand signals and understand when to make
them. Officials are expected to make the correct call in a convincing matter
almost immediately after each play ends.
Terminologies
Illegal Alignment/Improper Serve - Now the ball is contacted for
serve, overlapping by adjacent players other than the server.
Illegal Attack Hits - Players may not attack an opponent's serve from
either the front or back zone while the ball remains in the front zone and
above the top of the net.
Delay in Service - When the server does not contact the ball within 8
seconds, raise both arms above your head. It is considered reaching over the
net if you contact the ball when your opponent has not used all three of
their allotted hits.
Net Foul - occurs while the ball is in play and: a. a player contacts any part
of the net including the cable attachments.
Back Row Player - completes an attack hit from the front zone, if now of
contact, the ball is entirely above the top of the net.
Illegal Blocker - After a team’s 1st or 2nd team hit, the ball is not going to
come over the net and the opponent will not be able to make a play on it, the
blocker can reach over and block.
Ball Touched - If any part of the ball touches the line, then the ball is
"good". If the ball lands out and is not touched by any player on the
receiving team before it hits the ground, then a side out is called.
Four Hits - If a team contacts the volleyball more than 3 times without
returning the ball to the opposing team.
Double hit - occurs when a player illegally contacts the ball twice in
succession or the ball rebounds from one part of the body to another on a
single attempt to play the ball.
Side-out - defined as when the receiving team earns the right to serve
whether they get a point when they do so or not.
14
Substitutes - replace players of the starting line-up only once per set.
The volleyball rule books state that when a player subs in for another, they
must sub in for that very position, and can only be subbed in for that
position.
End of Game - after the last point of the set has been scored, and you have
awarded the final point and signaled the fault, whistle and show the end of
set signal by crossing the arms over the chest. Hands should be open with
the palms facing the body.
15
The referee is the individual at the center of the court, dressed in
black and white stripes. A referee’s duties include signaling when a rally
begins and ends. The referee is responsible for officially recognizing team
requests, substitutions, time-outs and communicating with the coaches at
the appropriate times.

WEEK 7: PARTICIPATE IN IMPLEMENTING AN
ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT: WASTE
SEGREGATION
EXPECTATION
In this lesson you will learn the significance of waste
management which leads to healthy environment. Specifically, this
module will help you to;
1. understand the different kinds of refuse
2. know the proper waste disposal through waste management, and
3. demonstrate life skill that promotes healthy environment.
6
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
Waste management involves collecting, sorting, treating, recycling,
and when properly facilitated providing a source of energy and resources.
Therefore, it has a huge economic potential that needs to be leveraged by
public and private entities.
Improved waste management leads to a better quality of life for local
populations, by improving hygiene conditions and reducing health risks
related to illegal dumping and inadequate garbage collection.
7
1. Most of the waste that we think is useless can be recycled and holds
value for rag pickers and scrap dealers. Keep them in a separate bin &
make life easier for them.
2. The second bin will be for non recyclables items i.e. things that
cannot be recycled. If we mix sanitary or “dirty” waste with the
recyclable items, we contribute to the unhygienic working conditions of
waste workers who have to rummage through stinky garbage and look for
the “value items”.
3. Food waste is not friends with plastic and other packaging materials
that we use. If it’s kept separate, it can be converted into high quality
compost that can be used for indoor plants, lawns and so on. If you don’t
have a garden or need for compost, it doesn’t matter; give the compost
away to a friend or neighbor and make their day.
