Introduction

When Android launched in 2008, it was like a fish in a sea of sharks. In the span of a
few years, however, it went from being an underdog to one of the most popular mobile
operating systems in the market, decimating the lead of Nokia, Blackberry, and
Samsung. These were (and still are) billion dollar companies with years of experience in
the smartphone industry; it does not mean feat beating the big names at their own
game. But the new entrant won, and there are over 1.5 billion devices running on
Android today

ANDROID DESIGNS

Material Design from

Google released a list of design principles for developers. It’s a must read not just for
people who want to design Android Apps, but for anyone who wants to design things.

Android has a lot of variety in its platform, but this is a mixed blessing. Standardizing
and normalizing sizes across devices can be a pain. Emirweb is a great way to find out
the dimensions of screen sizes on different mobile devices, in both landscape and
portrait views.

Android UI design from

Simplilearn, the world's largest professional certifications company, has free Android UI
design tutorials on YouTube.

This is one of my favorite websites for Android UI design principles. Every aspect of
app design is discussed, from the pixel-level to the overall design experience.

the latest developments in UI.
