Course Name Rizal’s Life and Works

Course Credits 3 units

Course Description As mandated by Republic Act 1425, this course covers the life and works of the country’s national hero, Jose Rizal.
Among the topics covered Rizal’s biography and his writings, particularly the novels Noli Me Tangere and El
Filibusterismo, some of his essays, and various correspondences.
Contact Hours/Week 3 hours

Prerequisite None

Course Outcomes 1. Understand the Philippine condition under Spanish rule in Rizal’s time.
2. Examine the main points contained in selected written works authored by Rizal.
3. Empathize with the societal conditions of the Filipinos in the 19th century.
4. Cooperate with classmates in doing related small group activities.
5. Create a brochure featuring interesting information of Rizal’s life
