Art and Bananas

The document discusses the artwork "Comedian" which was a banana duct taped to a wall. The author believes that in postmodern art, anything can be considered art. While some bought the artwork for $120,000-$150,000 for the idea, others saw it as superficial commentary on society. The author fears this type of superficial art may be what society deserves, since postmodernism says everything can be art without deeper meaning. However, the author also notes that the problem with "Comedian" is that it comments on superficiality in a superficial way.

My problem with comedian is not that its conceptual, it’s that it comments about our superficiality in

superficial way

it might not be the art we want, but I fear it is the art we deserve
send your insight about this video through the activity "Art and Bananas" in the Modules

In my opinion, everything can be labeled as art in postmodern art therefore it is not surprising if there’s
a banana duct-taped to a wall is an art and titled it “Comedian”. The fascination that brings to it to the
peoples including their response and especially the person who ate the banana but thanks to the
certificate of authenticity to restore the banana’s art. As I learned from those buyers of the art that did
not purchase actual bananas and duct tape they paid 120,000 and 150,000 dollars for an idea and I think
those buyers are actually love the arts. Because of the outrageous of the art then it brings us something
new and different. And one of the great things art can do is point to what makes the now moment
distinct from all the other moments in which it might not be the art we want, but I fear it is the art we
deserve because now everything can be art or considered as art then all we have to do is to appreciate
it. It is just a simple banana that part of our meal then now it can be called an art. Lastly, the one that
makes memorable is the problem with the “Comedian” art is not that it's conceptual, it’s that it
comments about our superficiality in a superficial way.

but the entire fascination, disgust part of entire act

it is not only a ductate a banan

everything can be labeled as an art in postmodern art

gave us an idea with anything goes

simply banana part of our meal can be art

theres still limitation of meaning

there should be layers of meaning when looking to art

postmodernism is a reaction of modernism

the artwork still not define

establish art in modern art

there will be no style in postmodern art na pwede maging art
