I have worked and I know the hospitality industry in Australia this sector is classified into companies
that offer accommodation, food and beverages, such as cafes, restaurants and take away food
services; pubs, taverns and bars; hotels, motels and other accommodation and hospitality clubs,
this sector is quite large in the industry and recognized for its quality standards, this is reflected in
the education and requirements that the sector demands of its employees.
Regarding training trends, it is common to see that this sector has different levels in the
requirement of education from a certificate III to an advanced diploma, this not only contributes to
the industry by having a trained and updated workforce, but to another economic sector like
education. It is usual that this sector requires people a level of education, in addition to skills, and

Question 2
Using the same industry, you selected to address question 1, outline industrial relations
relevant to the specific industry.
Tourism is a key economic driver for the Australian industry, as an industry, hospitality is the
seventh largest employer and therefore must be strictly subject to industry laws and regulations.
The minimum terms and conditions of employment are contained in the FW Law and are called
National Employment Standards (NES). The NES are ten basic working conditions that cannot be
outsourced and include such things as leave, severance pay, notice payments and holiday
requirements.
In addition to the NES, modern awards and business agreements may also impose additional and
more occupation-specific obligations, furthermore, in the federal IR system, modern awards and
business agreements cover much of the workforce and establish other minimum obligations not
found in the NES.
Some modern awards that may be applicable to the tourism and hospitality industry include, but are
not limited to, the following:

Question 3
(50-100 words)
The tourism subsector represents on average 2.8 per % of GDP and 4.7 per cent of employment, it
accounts for more than 8 per cent of the Australian workforce. However, it should be noted that,
although 13 per cent of Australian businesses (267,000) are classified as part of the tourism
industry, about 95 per cent of them are micro or small businesses.
Hospitality (accommodation and food services) employs even more people: 796,500 people (6.9 per
cent of the workforce) as of August 2013, making it the seventh largest employment sector in
Australia. The billing of restaurant, cafeteria and catering services grew more than 10 percent in the
year until August 2014.
The events subsector is substantially smaller, employing only 22,700 people classified as conference
and event organizers in November 2013. However, this number is expected to grow by almost 18%
by November 2018. The food and beverage service industries have grown strongly in recent
decades, from around 500,600 in 2000 to 820,900 in 2019, growth is projected for the next 5 years,
in addition, this industry expects the strongest growth for workers coffee with about 19% and chefs
with more than 16%.
The consequence of such strong growth in visits is a corresponding growth in Australia's Tourism
Workforce. Between 2015 and 2020, the general demand for tourism Jobs are expected to increase
by 85,000 (639,729 minus 554,750), an increase of 15.3% relative to the size of the tourism
workforce in 2015, stable growth is expected due to the strength of the economy.
