Practice Assignment – Control Charts

1. A manufacturer of hair oil has an automated process consisting for filling


the 200 ml bottles and a sealing unit. After filling the bottles, it is
automatically sealed with a metallic cap. To monitor the quality of the
process, samples of size 5 are drawn periodically from the process and the
quantity filled is measured. The table below has data on 12 such
observations:-

2. A firm is manufacturing pens. In order to maintain the quality, the


operator measures the diameter of the tip of the pen of a sample of three
pens drawn randomly from the manufactured lot after every one hour.
The collected data is given in the following table:-
