by the President Elect or a Vice President, and executed by the Education
Division of the IESL secretariat.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR AN ENGINEER TO FOLLOW CPD PROGRAMS?

 Engineering knowledge today has a very short Half – life

 Life-long Learning is needed to keep your knowledge and skills up-
to-date
 CPD programs provide you an opportunity to update yourself and
learn new things and focus on areas relevant to your current needs
 It also gives you an opportunity to meet and interact with engineers
and other professionals with a common interest, and form networks
with them, which will help in furthering your professional career.
 It helps cultivate the learning-to-learn ability, which is a very
important skill in career advancement
 CPD is a requirement for obtaining your charter and maintaining
your Professional Engineer (PEng) status. It will also be a
requirement for maintaining your Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
too.
 When the engineers keep themselves updated with the current
knowledge and advances in technology, as well as improve their
communication and other soft skills, it leads to the improvement of
the professional practices and elevation of the image of the
engineer in society.
