The course objective is to help students understand and acquire knowledge about:
• Main concept of engineering materials.
• Influence of crystalline structure on the properties of metal.
• Type of defect and their influences on the properties of crystals.
• How deformation will take place and will know the main types of plastic deformation.
• Main causes for failure and types of failure. Methods to overcome it.
• Mechanical testing of materials.
• Main concepts of phase and phase transformation, crystalline changes and their influences
on properties of metals.
Teaching and Learning methods will be Lectures supported with lab exercise. During lecture minimum
85 % and during lab practice 100% attendance is expected from the students.
