Where do good and evil come from?


We all have a sense of morality, and most of us agree on what is
good. But in truth, good and evil may have a lot in common.

Epistemology

How are rationalism and skepticism similar?


Rationalism and skepticism both apply the use of reason to determine what
is true.

Rationalism looks to logic and reasoning to determine what is true and rejects
empiricism as a method for understanding anything more than contingent truths.
Skepticism uses both reason and empiricism to examine the validity of
conclusions drawn and shares rationalism's concern that empirical truths may be
contingent or correlation rather than established.

Logic

Look at this series: 80, 10, 70, 15, 60 … What number should

I think an aesthetic approach to art or to people and objects in the world is
essential to being a human being but it's fundamentally different from
approaching the world ethically—or logically, scientifically, spiritually, or
mythically for that matter. Experiencing the world aesthetically is a matter of
paying attention to the form and particular qualities of something.

Why Would an All-Powerful God Permit Evil?


God permitted evil to enter His universe as the price of freedom. Although
He could have created the universe without the potential for suffering or sin, such
a universe would not have allowed free creatures to exist. It would have been a
robotic universe, with no more awareness of grace or God’s goodness than a
colony of insects.

Cosmology

What is the evidence for the Big Bang?


The evidence for the Big Bang comes from many pieces of observational
data that are consistent with the Big Bang. None of these prove the Big Bang,
since scientific theories are not proven. Many of these facts are consistent with
the Big Bang and some other cosmological models, but taken together these
observations show that the Big Bang is the best current model for the Universe.

Teleology

Can purpose be attributed to events without grounding in


agency?
As observers we observe events around us. All events have causes,
either deterministic causes or non-deterministic ones. As observers however
we can additionally attribute purpose (or meaning as in religious meaning) to
events. We can declare one event happen for a given reason, or a purpose.

Axiology

Is the value of art always contextual, or can it ever be inherent?


The meaning of something arises from its relationship to something
else. Some context is always necessary. So it is true with art. As centuries
pass, the context changes, and so the meaning to the viewer changes, as
well.
