This document illustrates the layout of the front panel and the - most frequently seen - LED codes of HP LTO tape drives used
in a PRIMERGY system.

Front Panel Layout:

LED Codes:

LED Code

All LEDs OFF Drive has no power.

Ready is ON Drive is ready for operation.


Normal activity (read, write, load,
Ready is FLASHING
unload…)
Clean is FLASHING Drive requires cleaning.

Tape / Drive is FLASHING Cartridge or drive mechanism error.

Encryption LED (if available)

ON At power on.

OFF Drive is idle and there is no encryption key.

OFF with Ready LED flashing green Drive is reading / writing unencrypted.
Drive is idle but encryption key is loaded. Drive is ready to
ON (solid blue)
read / write data.
ON (solid blue) with Ready LED flashing green Drive is reading / writing encrypted data.
There is an encryption related error. This is cleared after
Alternate flashing blue and amber
unload or successful encryption / decryption resumes.
