Service Interval Guide
Service Interval Guide
In order to help achieve a significant improvement in cost of ownership for all customers Ford introduced
modifications to the content and labour time of selected scheduled Services in January 2006. Following this initiative
the previously referred to Standard Services are replaced by Interim Services for all new Ford vehicles (excluding
Galaxy 2000, Transit 2000/2001 and Transit Connect) registered on or after 1 January 2006. While these revisions
st
reduce parts content and labour time over the servicing life of a vehicle, Interim Services still include appropriate
safety Service elements such as brake checks and OASIS reviews for outstanding Service actions.
Scheduled Services for vehicles registered before 1 January 2006 are not affected by the change.
st
Regular maintenance is an essential part of keeping your vehicle in a safe, economical and environmentally friendly
condition whilst also protecting your vehicle’s resale value. In order to keep your vehicle running as efficiently and
reliably as possible you should arrange to have it Serviced once a year or at the mileage interval (if your annual
mileage is above average) appropriate to your vehicle. The chart below outlines the Service schedule that is
applicable to your vehicle, detailing age and maximum mileage intervals as well as identifying the service content
appropriate at each interval.
Comprehensive details of the work required at each Service are contained in the Service Portfolio supplied with your
vehicle.
Courtesy Services
The significant reduced labour time required for completion of Interim Services means that many dealers should now
be able to offer a 'while you wait' option for Interim Servicing. Please be aware that, as a result of vastly reduced
prices, additional services such as courtesy vehicles or vehicle washes may now be charged for at the dealers'
discretion. To support this Fleet National Pricing includes 'Additional Vehicle Services' menus detailing recommended
Ford prices for such services.

Additional Scheduled Maintenance
In addition to Annual Standard, Interim or Major Services your vehicle will, from time to time, require additional
scheduled maintenance in line with Ford recommendations. Details of additional scheduled maintenance items
applicable to your vehicle are also shown in the Service Portfolio supplied with the vehicle.
Vehicles registered from 1 Jan 2006 onwards will adopt the new service schedules. Affected vehicles are highlighted
st
in bold below. There will be no change to service intervals for vehicles not highlighted in bold and vehicles highlighted
but registered before 1 Jan 2006.

For vehicles registered from 1 March 2002, with Standard & Major Service requirements, it is mandatory that annual
st
Body and Paint Checks are carried out to maintain the Ford Perforation Warranty. For vehicles with Interim & Major
Service requirements (those registered after 1 January 2006) Body and Paint Checks are required every two years
st
up to year 6 and annually thereafter. These checks must be carried out in accordance with Ford repair standards
and documented in the separate field in the Service History Log. The checks must be carried out at either a Ford
Dealer or by a Fleet's own workshop (if a fleet vehicle and maintained in their own Fleet workshop).
• During a routine service at a Ford Dealer, there will be an additional charge equivalent to the scheduled
labour time of 0.1 hours.
• If these checks are carried out as a standalone procedure at a Ford dealer, there will be a charge equivalent
to the scheduled labour time of 0.2 hours.
In addition to ensuring early detection of perforation, maintaining the Annual Body and Paint Check history log will
contribute to an improved residual vehicle value.
