ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

A Ph.D. project requires an unfailing commitment on the part of

the researcher However, it actually materializes only, if there is an

equally committed research supervisor like Dr. O P Juneja to guide the

student I am indebted to him for his invaluable guidance Discussions

with him not only helped me in giving a concrete shape to my dissertation

but also set me thinking seriously about many issues about life I am also

obliged to Smt Renu Juneja for her consistently warm and eversmiling

welcome during my several visits to their residence

I am thankful to Centre for Canadian Studies at M.S University of

me to pursue my dissertation in spare time during the working hours

No work can be successfully completed without the blessings of

the elders. At this juncture, I remember with great fondness and respect

my father-in-law late Shri Sudhirbhai Vahia who must have showered his

blessings on me from heavens A large part of credit for my academic

achievement goes to my mother-in-law Smt Gaurangiben Vahia who,

being an academician herself, gave me an unflinching, rock solid support

for which I am obliged to her. Special thanks to my two rose buds, my

children Nishil and Pranati for giving up their share of time with me

during my dissertation.

I shall not devalue the co-operation and encouragement of dear

Hemang by thanking him because I would like keep the charm intact and

cherish it forever.
