1.1 Foreword
Since the day DAW became a common tool for composers, many software makers intended
to make composing as easy as possible. Nowadays even non-musician can compose music
with the use of various plug-ins, which upgrade their DAW. How many of the music makers
have ever imagined they would be able to compose music with one finger? The time has
finally arrived. After discussion on how to achieve this goal, we created our new VSTi plug-in
W2 Harmonizer. This user friendly VSTi plug-in is indeed very ambitious project. Its
functionality allows its user to create chords without actually having the musical background
or even imagination. It can be a very helpful tool for all the composers from beginners to
professionals. If making music is your hobby or full time job, you will definitely appreciate
the creativity of newly developed W2 Harmonizer.

Numbers I-IX represent keys in the scale. In C major scale, “I” represents chord starting with
C key in C major scale, “II” represents chord starting with D key in C major scale, ect… Only
those numbers (I-IX) usable in selected scale are available to choose from (see: VIII and IX in
C major not available).
Letters A-B-C represent the keys played by W2 Harmonizer. In C major scale “A” (in “I”)
represents C key, “B” represents E key and “C” represents G key.
Together there are 8 possible chord variations for each number (I-IX).
You can set every number (I-IX) separately or you can set all of them the same using “All”.
A-B-C is basic combination typical for used scale (C1-E1-G1 for C major). „d“ accompanying
one of the letters means down and „u“ means up.
Combination A-Bd-C will play the second key one octave below the basic combination (E-C1-
G1 in C major scale). Combination A-B-Cd will play the third key one octave below the basic
combination (G-C1-E1 in C major scale) ect...
Combinations with „u“ e.g. A-B-C-Au will play the last key one octave above the basic
combination (C1-E1-G1-C2 in C major scale).
When you select a scale, the keyboard on the top left corner will indicate which keys you can
use on your keyboard. Usability of the keys depends on selected scale. See example:
If you do not know which scale, key or inversion you would like to use, you can simply
randomize one of them or even all of them. W2 Harmonizer will choose randomly the key,
scale or chord inversion.
4. RUN W2 HARMONIZER IN DIFFERENT HOSTS
Open VST Instrument Rack (Menu > Devices > VST Instruments)
Insert W2 Harmonizer into VST Instrument Rack, click on button „Create“ in the next
dialog window to create MIDI track, or create MIDI track manually and insert W2
Harmonizer in MIDI Out
Create another MIDI track with your favourite VST instrument. In Cubase 4 and later
you can also create an Instrument track.
In this second track set W2 Harmonizer as MIDI IN
In the second track set Monitor Button to “ON”
If you want to play from MIDI keyboard, beside Monitor setting on the second track you
have to have also Record or Monitor set on W2 Harmonizer track.
Do not put W2 Harmonizer as Instrument Track, as you would not be able to access W2
Harmonizer MIDI OUT Device in Cubase.
To record MIDI output from W2 Harmonizer press Record Button on the second (favourite
VST Instrument) track and press Record on Transport Panel.
Warning: Favourite VST instrument must be one of VST instrument Plug-ins not internal FL Plug-in
