Kit to Order

Purpose
If you are using SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM), you can use this process to create, distribute
and confirm outbound deliveries with kit structures. Kit structures are based on bills of materials that are exploded
within a sales order and assembled in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM).
For example, you are selling kits to customers that you do not necessarily carry as independent materials in the stock
in your warehouse. However, all components of the kit are available in your warehouse. In a kit structure, in SAP
EWM the components of the kit are picked and goods issue is posted only. In SAP ERP, additionally goods receipt
and goods issue for the kit itself can be posted.

Prerequisites
To be able to use kit to order across multiple systems, you have connected SAP EWM to SAP ERP.

Settings in SAP ERP

 You have activated business function LE, Extended Warehouse Management Integration .
 In Customizing for SAP ERP, as well as the settings for distributing outbound deliveries to SAP EWM,
you have also made special settings required for kit creation (as an alternative to the points listed below,
you can also execute BC Set /SPE/KIT_TO_ORDER):
o You have set up an item category group for the kit header and the kit component.
For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Logistics Execution under   Sales and
Distribution   Sales   Sales Documents   Sales Document Item   Deliveries   Define Item Category
Groups   .
o You have set up sales order item categories for the kit header and the kit components. In
the item category for the kit header, you must set it so that a delivery group with a uniform
date is generated. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Logistics
Execution under   Sales and Distribution   Sales   Sales Documents   Sales Document
Item   Deliveries   Define Item Categories   .
o You have set up delivery item categories for the kit header and the kit components.
Storage location determination must be activated in both item categories. The availability check must be
deactivated for the kit header. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Logistics
Execution under   Shipping   Deliveries   Define Item Categories for Deliveries   .
o You have set the indicator for kit creation for the item categories of the kit header, and the
movement type for automatic goods receipt, if required. For more information, see the
Implementation Guide (IMG) for Logistics Execution under   Extended Warehouse
Management Integration   Goods Issue Process   Kit to Order   Define Goods Receipt
Movement Type for Kit Header   .

Settings in SAP EWM

For a list of the settings required in SAP EWM, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Extended Warehouse
Management under   Goods Issue Process   Make Settings for Kitting   .
Process Flow
1. You create a sales order with a kit header in ERP.
2. The system explodes the bill of materials of the kit header and creates new items for the components.
3. The system copies the kit header and all kit components into the outbound delivery that was created for this
sales order.
4. You save the outbound delivery.
5. The system sends the outbound delivery to EWM. This is where the kit components are picked and the kit is
assembled.
6. In EWM, you post a goods issue that is confirmed to ERP by the system.
7. ERP then posts the goods issues for the components, as well as goods receipt and goods issue for the kit if
required.
