I. INTRODUCTORY CONCEPT
Just like our hands, our feet are very useful to us as
an individual. From day to night our feet touch the ground,
whenever you are standing, walking, and running. One
way to pamper our feet is through the Foot Spa
Treatment. In this learning activity, you will be given an
explanation on the different ideas that may help you follow
the steps in giving foot spa treatment.

II. LEARNING SKILLS FROM THE MELCs

1.1 Check and analyze the condition of foot nails.
1.2 Ensure client’s safety and comfort prior to foot spa activity.
1.3 Wash the feet with warm water and soap before scrubbing.
1.4 Towel dry the feet and apply with appropriate lotion.
1.5 Prepare and use necessary tools supplies/ materials according to
OHSC requirements.
1.6 Determine and test appropriate temperature for heat tolerance of the
client.
1.7 Soak foot for 4 seconds for 3 consecutive times in wax and wrap with
plastic gloves and mittens.
1.8 Remove wax from foot according to manufacturer’s instructions.
1.9 Apply foot softening product and massage according to prescribed
procedure.
1.10 Advise client after service on maintenance program.

III. ACTIVITIES
LEARNING ACTIVITY 1.1

Instruction: Arrange the following steps by writing letter from A to E before each

Proceed to the discussion if you are done. As you are going through the
discussion, check if your answers are correct. Be honest.
PRE-FOOT SPA TREATMENT

The primary responsibility of the salon professionals is to always ensure safety and
comfort of his/her client while giving services.
The following are the things to be done before giving the foot spa treatment:
1. Seat client on a chair (have client remove shoes and stockings)
2. Ensure client's safety and comfort prior to foot spa activity. (Place client's feet on
a clean towel on footrest to prevent stains)
3. Wash your hands.

4. Check the condition of foot nails.
5. Remove any jewelry from the body part to be treated.

LEARNING ACTIVITY 1.2
Write at least 10 different tools, materials, and equipment needed in giving foot
spa. Write your answer in the table below.
SUPPLIES/MATERIALS TOOLS/EQUIPMENT
Most of the tools, materials, and equipment used in performing hand spa are
also used in performing foot spa, but there are also some implements which are
intended for hand spa only and foot spa only. Let’s find out if you’ve got the correct
answer.
After learning the different implements used in performing foot spa. Let us now
proceed with the steps and proper procedure in foot spa treatment.

Being extra careful and patient is needed to finish the treatment successfully. Now you will
apply what you have learned by answering the next activity, your honesty here will be tested.
LEARNING ACTIVITY 2
Instruction: Arrange the steps in giving foot spa chronologically. Write 1-11, one as
the first and 11 as the last.
________ Advise client after service on maintenance program.
________ Allow the paraffin to remain in place for 10 to 15 minutes.
________ Remove wax from foot according to manufacturer's instructions.
________ Apply foot softening product and massage according to prescribed procedure.
________Towel dry feet and apply with appropriate lotion.
________Determine and test appropriate temperature for heat tolerance of client.
________Confirm with client the desired service outcome to be recorded
_______ Set foot spa machine to regulate heat and achieve required melting of wax.

________ Prepare and use the necessary tools and supplies/materials.
________ Wash feet with warm water and soap before and after scrubbing.
________ Soak foot for 4 seconds for 3 consecutive times in wax and wrap with
plastic liners and boots.
IV. EVALUATION
TRY YOUR BEST!
Instruction: Make a video using your mobile phone on the steps in performing
foot spa and pre-foot spa treatment. Choose your partner from within your family/
friends/neighbors.
Note: Your video will be send to the messenger account of your teacher. If you
do not have mobile phone or you have poor internet connection, you may submit
pictures (with caption) or write an essay with a minimum of 200 words about the
steps in giving foot spa.
Instruction: Be guided by the rubrics prepared for you, so you will know how
you will be graded and what is expected from you.
