President/Chairman and
Members of the Board of Directors,
Hospital Administrator, and
Medical Director
Amang Rodriguez Memorial Medical Center
Sumulong Highway, Sto. Niño,
Marikina City 1800
Dear Sir/Madam:
We are writing on behalf of Mr. Louie C. Lim, residing at No. 58 Saog, Marilao, Bulacan,
in connection with the alleged refusal of your hospital to release his brother, Mr. Alvin C. Lim.
According to Mr. Lim, his brother was hospitalized in your institution due to a vehicular
accident. He further alleges that his brother’s attending physician has already informed them
that his brother is ready for discharge, but your hospital refuses to release him due to non-
payment of hospital bills.
In view of the allegation of Mr. Louie C. Lim that your hospital is detaining his brother,
Alvin C. Lim, despite the fact that the latter’s attending physician has cleared him for discharge
from the hospital, and even after his family has demanded his release, we, on behalf of Mr. Lim,
hereby formally demand that your administrator or any authorized representative of the hospital
allow the release of Mr. Alvin C. Lim immediately upon receipt of this letter.
Should you fail to do so, Mr. Lim will be constrained to file the appropriate criminal, civil,
and administrative action against you in accordance with the Revised Penal Code, Civil Code of
the Philippines, and Republic Act No. 9439, commonly known as the “Anti-Hospital Detention
Act”.
As we understand it, the family of Mr. Lim is willing to execute the necessary promissory
note to secure payment of their outstanding hospital expenses.
Please comply immediately with this Demand Letter in order to avoid unnecessary
expenses for litigation.
Sincerely,
SILVESTRE A. MOSING
