 Cultural diversity in the work place is a result of practices, values, traditions, or beliefs of
employees based on race, age, ethnicity, religion, or gender.

 The value of diversity when working in health and community care sector is valuing diversity
recognizes differences between people and acknowledges that these differences are a valued
asset. Good equality and diversity practices make sure that the services provided to people are
fair and accessible to everyone.

 Australia’s diverse migrant communities have brought with them food, lifestyle, cultural and
political practices, which have been absorbed into mainstream Australian culture.

 My personal background is Indian. Indians have their own cultural background. Majority of
Indians are Hindus.

 Indian have an indirect communication style; they tend to have quite a forward way of asking
questions. Asking about personal matters in the initial stages of meeting someone is common so
this may impact in my personal behavior.

 Two social practices that Indians do due to the direct result of cultural upbringing and not
changed from the practices of parents and social expectations are: we do not eat beef as cow is
sacred animal, worship different gods and goddesses and this have not changed because they
have strong belief in it.

 Culture gives rise to manner and opinions so my communication style is generally indirect to
avoid confrontation or offence.

 Diversity in work environment promotes acceptance, respect and teamwork despite differences
in race, age, gender, and religion or communication style among employees.

 I provided communication assistance to one of my friend at airport. I translated English to Hindi


language to help him.

 No, I have not experienced discrimination in job.

 I consider myself to be socially and culturally aware in the workplace. This is because I have
researched about challenges and problems that I can get in my workplace and also the ways to
solve these problems in Google.
 I have participated in various Australian fairs and programs and also visited tour with diverse
people in Australia so this support and promote cultural diversity in workplace.
