IV. OBJECTIVES
a) define the parts of divisions through explanation
b) share the ways how to use division in everyday life
c) create the way how to divide properly through 2 minute roleplay.
A. ENGAGE
The students play a game called Guess it Right! They were given jumbled
pictures where the students will complete it. They have a minute to do it. These
pictures are shapes of square, circle and triangle.
B. EXPLORE
The students share what they completed. The teacher asks what they
observe on the figures they completed. They are ask questions like “How many
parts of the circle was cut?” and so on. The teacher asks them what she did to
equally cut it.
The teacher presents a presentation where the students will read the
statement: “There are two siblings whose names are Matteo and Maria. Matteo
has 8 candies. He wants to give Maria an equal share of the candies. How many
candies will Maria receive?” After answering, the students need to explain how
they get the answer.
C. EXPLAIN
She told the parts of the division and the children give the meaning of
parts of division based on what they learned from the activity. The
teacher also points these facts: a.) division is inverse of multiplication b.) you can
never divide by 0 - any value you divide by 0 is 0, because 0 does not have any value.
c.) you can write with three signs (÷ | / | - )
GENERALIZATION
The teacher flashes the multiplication problems and asks students how
to get the answer. Next, she flashes the division problems but with the same
numbers from the multiplication problems. The students compared both the
problems. They will share how to get the answer.
ELABORATE
The teacher introduces the division machine and how to use it. They
answer several division problems from the machine.
EVALUATE
The students plan for a dialogue on how to use the operation of division
properly in their daily life. They were given 3 minutes to plan and another 2
minutes to perform.
