Layout of Strength of Materials Lab
To Draw the Layout of Strength of MaterialsLaboratory
It is used to for torsion and shear test (direct and punching shear
test).
1 ton is divided into 10 divisions each division 0.1 ton, which is further divided into 10 divisions
each division is 0.01 ton and it is further divided into 10 division on venire scale to measure up
to 0.001 tons.
The upper part is fixed whereas the lower part of the machine can
move.

Impact load
Tension
Bending
In this machine fork moves and then hit the specimen for a short interval of time and then it
gives the value of impact load.
It is operated manually.
The upper part of the machine is fixed and lower part is moved for test.

Hardness
This machine is used for finding the fatigue test in any material.
Fatigue
Repeated loading which causes reversal of stresses in the material (i.e. in one condition tension
and another condition compression) is known as fatigue.

• BRINELL Hardness Testing Machine
• Truss models
It also includes fink roof truss, bridge truss and joints of trusses.

This apparatus is used to mark at 8’’ on the specimen on which test are applied to find yield
strength, ultimate strength and elongation.
Comments
In this job, we study the purpose of different machines, study their scales and least count of
different machines.
