Statistics is singular when it refers to a field of study: e.g. Statistics is an interesting field of study. When
it refers to particular numbers, it is used a a count noun: singular = one statistic (no final –s); plural = two
statistics. For example: This statistic is correct. Those statistics are incorrect.
