should be resolved?

(Marital issues)

What is your stand on legalization of divorce in the Philippines?

 I say yes to the legalization of divorce in the Philippines. Many marriage-related crimes are
arising in our country like violence against women and children, jealousy, murder, physical
injuries, crime of passion, adultery, and concubinage. These are the most particular crimes
happening especially in the country Philippines. Annulment takes time of long process before a
marriage is nullified while divorce is a quick process even when two individuals decided to marry
now, they can divorce tomorrow. With the help of divorce, it can lessen marriage-related crimes
happening in the Philippines.

(leadership and administration issues and concern)

What is your personal assessment on the leadership enactment of President Rodrigo Duterte on
resolving the health crisis in the Philippines?

 I rate him 1/10. He is not that responsive to his people and to the health crisis. The incompetency
of his administration which results to a poor and the worst governance happened in the
Philippines. He is also a hypocrite when it comes to his words and pledges for his people. He also
pardons his trusted police general while the normal citizen suffered just to follow the strict health
protocols. I have nothing to say but OUST DUTERTE.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED?
Answer the following questions using your own words.

1. What is a social institution?

 According to Jonathan Turner (1197), A social institution is a complex of positions,
roles, norms and values lodged in particular types of social structures and organizing
relatively stable patterns of human activity with respect to fundamental problems in
producing life-sustaining resources, in reproducing individuals, and in sustaining
viable societal structures within a given environment.
2. In your own opinion, how social and cultural institutions like family affect you in terms of
personality formation?
 They can teach you the ethics and values of life, build your personality, influence
your norms and morality, and demonstrate the features and realities of life.
3. What types of authority do you observe prevalent in your locality? What roles and
responsibilities do student leaders perform in your barangay?
 I observed that barangay Commonwealth are better than barangay Payatas when it
comes in implementing and regulating health protocols and very responsive. I don’t
know if there’s SK or any kind of student leader organization here in my barangay
but all I know is that they choose students that are son/daughter of the kapitan or
kagawad have privilege and exempted when they commit minor and major crimes.
4. What is the implication of polygamy structure of marriage in Philippines society?
 Polygamy affects society because property struggles among co-wives occur when
their husband dies. Women could use sinister means to grab as much of the property
left behind as possible! Poverty in a polygamous family is more likely to rise because
there are few resources, however many individuals are involved.
5. What can you say about the role of kinship in influencing other organizations, affecting even
our politics and economy?
 All societies use kinship as a basis for forming social groups and for classifying people.
Traditional kinship remains important in many indigenous communities today. However, the
negative side of kinship is that there are higher positioned families that abuse power resulting
to many problems in a particular society/community. The best example of this are political
dynasties that is relevant in Philippines. Many generations of people are suffering because of
bad and poor governance caused by political dynasties.
