Cycloid and Involute

A cycloid curve is generated by a point on the circumference of a rolling circle, with instructions to draw a 56 mm diameter generating circle rolling along a line and to draw the cycloid curve with a normal and tangent at a point. An involute curve is also drawn for a 35 mm diameter base circle, with a normal and tangent shown for a given point P on the involute curve.

CYCLOIDAL CURVES

1. Draw a cycloid generated by a point P on the circumference of a circle of diameter 56 mm when the circle
rolls along a straight line. Draw a normal and a tangent to the curve at any convenient point.

INVOLUTES

1. Draw an involute of a circle of 35 mm diameter. Draw a normal and a tangent to the curve at a given point
P on the curve.
