Topic: Advantages and Disadvantages of Political groups at educational
institutions
Political parties are groups of people who come together because they share a mutual vision for
their community. These parties can form at local, regional, or national levels. Politics is a social
science and its study through organized movements can create a sound administration. It’s not
desirable to embargo politics altogether for students as it refutes them the fundamental
opportunity of becoming a decent citizen to vote. It is entirely tyrannical to forbid a student a
campus opportunity to talk, read, discuss or argue politically with his fellow students, subject
undeniably to a peaceful atmosphere, disciplined behavior and conformity to public health and
morality.
A paradox concerning the relationship between education and political party preference has
existed for many years in the literature on political socialization and voting behavior. Diversity
in educational institutions has strong association with various political groups, as students spoil
themselves in turbulence and vandalism. Insensitive politicians misuse these young people
deliberately, knowing well that this is a crucial and vital time of their lives. But let us stop
blaming our heartless leaders and keep things straight.
Abstinence from politics results in lack of knowledge about what’s happening in the country.
Students should be vigil about their country’s current affairs, which includes politics as well.
Youngsters make up a massive proportion of the voting population. It’s important for them to
have liberal knowledge about political concerns. They also have less understanding of
government or democratic practices. Taking part in political groups enlightens them about
these. Education can also be enhanced through political debates and free speech. If these are
forbidden it leads to young minds being conditioned by the management politics instead of
developing their own thinking. If we observe, these are some positive aspects of having political
groups in an educational institution.
The disadvantages of political groups in educational institutions are countless. Educational
institutes have become advertisers for a certain political group within the campus and influence
students through meetings and campaigns. Certain hostile groups battle within the campus and
create chaos and making the process of learning impossible. Peace, health, morality and other
values related to discipline are disturbed. For different political parties, these institutes are like
training grounds for their real political life. The platforms are virtually similar to those of their
national counterparts. They rarely raise issues of direct concern to students, like housing
shortages and the food quality of cafeteria. Instead, just like national candidates they often urge
students to vote for them on the basis of their caste or religion.
Conclusively, the life of a student is a crucial stage of life in which students have to give more
preference to their own education, than any other activities, their active involvement in the
politics leads to damage of their own studies, which is far more necessary for them than any
political concerns. For those who fall prey in the traps of these politicians are quite shrewd
enough to fathom bad politics. They are quite aware of the fact of being taken advantage of. But
what exactly is wrong with them? It’s either that they are negligent of the pros and cons or they
are too pre-occupied with the notion of demonstrating their strength and connections.
