1 Start-Up of the TCBC

1.1 Introduction
These instructions describe the start-up routine of a MCS220-C / Gen2 elevator with TCBC
and WWOVF.
Because the TCBC is used for different elevators, not all systems can be taken into
consideration for this start-up routine. For the start-up of further subsystems, refer to the
corresponding installation instructions.

Further documents (FCM) are necessary for the start-up of the other components of OTIS
MCS220-C / GeN 2
Drive:
 WWOVF with MCB_III
Door control:
 DCSS5
 AT120
Monitoring Device:
 Service Panel Board with CAN (SPBC)
Load Weighing System:
 Load Weighing Board analog (LWB-A)

1.2 General requirements for the beginning of the start-up

Necessary checking and measuring tools: In order to carry out the described start-up
routine, only the service tool and a multimeter are necessary.
带格式的: 项目符号和编号
1.1.11.2.1 Mechanical Design
The installation of all mechanical and electrical components has to be completed in
accordance with the instructions of the ”Field Installation Manual”. It must be ensured that
all scaffolding has been removed from the hoistway and free movement of the car through
the hoistway is possible. All hoistway doors have to be closed and all safety devices
installed so that a secure inspection run is possible.

Please check the following important points and cross-check in the "Field Installation
Manual" or wiring diagram, if necessary:
带格式的: 项目符号和编号
1.1.21.2.2 Electrical connections and components
The installation of the power supply cables, the motor cables, the main inputs, the brake
cables, the safety equipment (hoistway and car) and their wiring have to be completed.
The wiring, coming in the controller from all other components, have been plugged or
connected.
The main switch is switched off.

Pre-check for Start-Up:

Checking the wiring according to wiring diagram.
The protective wiring of each part to the terminal PE has to be checked.

Insulation Check:
The connection of HL1 to PE or HL2 to PE has to be removed and the resistance values
have to be checked with a multimeter.
a) from PE to HL1 >1MOhm
b) from PE to HL2 >1MOhm
c) from PE to main terminals L1, L2, L3 in the controller >1MOhm
d) from PE to motor terminals 1U, 1V, 1W in the controller >1MOhm

Restore the connection of HL1and HL2 to PE after check of insulation.

1.3 TCBC Adjustment (Inspection Run)

Switch the elevator on ERO - mode.

The main switch is switched off. Measure the line voltage between L1, L2 and L3 in
controller (TB1), no voltage should be measured.
Check the primary connection of TRF1 according to the voltage usual for this site.
Switch on main switch (OCB).
Check the voltages at plugs PY1 and PY2 on TCBC. Verify brake voltage at TRF1, also.
If neccessary change the primary connection (step up or step down) after switching off main
power !

If the measured voltage values PY1 (1-5) and PY2 (1-6) differ from the values stated in the
table above, check the cable positioning from the main transformer TRF1 to the TCBC
(refer to wiring diagram).

The plugs of the Remote Serial Link P101C and P1H on TCBC have to be disconnected to
avoid damage to Remote Stations!
Check the voltage supplies of the Remote Serial Link (RSL),
 Car link, VRS_Car on Plug P101C 33VDC  10%,
 Hall link, VRS_HWY on Plug P1H 33VDC  10%.

(Important notice: never measure directly with the meter probe the Wago receptacles! This
will damage the receptacles. Use an empty plug or special Wago testplugs.)

Ensure that hoistway and car doors are connected properly.

Check the proper inputs with the help of the TCBC-LED indications (car is in level and in
ERO mode):

LED Description State

GRP/J Error in the line voltage supply Off
NOR/DIAG Normal mode Off
INS Inspection mode On
ES Emergency Stop operated Off
DW Hoistway doors closed On
DFC Doors fully closed On
DOL Door Open Limit Off
DOB Door Open Button Off
DZ Door Zone Off (On only in door zone)
RSL Remote Serial Link Flashing

Note:
If after switching on the main switch, the status of the LED indication differs from the status
listed in the table, check the circuits of the corresponding LEDs.

1.4 Checking the safety chain

Every safety switch has to be consecutively checked for its faultless functioning and the
correct connection by operating the corresponding switch.
Furthermore, the bridging dependence of the safety switches that are bridged at ERO-
switch "ON" and TCI-switch "OFF", has to be checked with the help of the wiring diagram.

1.5 Checking of installation parameters and I/O list

All specific elevator data (installation parameter and I/O addresses) are already
programmed in the EEPROM by factory, only in case of malfunction you have to check or
adjust the Setup of the TCBC.
The Service Tool (SVT)- SETUP-menu contains all sub-menus that are necessary to adapt
the parameter of an elevator. If necessary to check parameters, refer to the chapter entitled
"Software Installation Parameters".

ATTENTION!
Before comparing or changing the parameters, check if the software number (refer to label
ERPOM) of your elevator corresponds with the software number of the description.

1.9 Remote Station (RS) and Line Terminator (LT) Test

The connection plugs P101C(Pin1-4) and P1H(Pin1-5) on TCBC have not been connected
yet.
Keep in mind, that because of a wiring error (excessive voltage, wrong poling) in the data
line (L1, L2, +30VDC, RTN/HL2) all RSs, LTs and the TCBC may be destroyed.
The right polarisation of the voltage supply (+30 VDC, RTN/HL2) for Remote Stations has
to be checked at plug P101C or P1H (female side) for the travelling cable and for the
hoistway cable with the wiring diagram and a multimeter.
Furthermore, it has to be checked at the counter plugs (male side), that no foreign voltage,
caused by wrong poling, exists at the cables L1, L2, +30 VDC, RTN/HL2 (With foreign
voltage TCBC may be destroyed).
Before the connections between RS in the car and RS in the hoistway are made, the Line
terminators in the car and at the last hall call must not be connected yet. The RS11, RS14
and RS18 are protected against wrong poling, but not against excessive voltage. If there
are doubts about the right connection at the RS, the plugs RS11 P2, RS14 P6, RS18 P1-2
at the car and hoistway RS must also be disconnected.
The connections can be made in the controller now. At the RS- and LT-plugs (car, hoistway)
the right voltage (30VDC) and poling (plug layout L1-Pin1, L2-Pin2, RTN-Pin3, 30VDC-Pin4)
can be checked now.
If the values measured with the multimeter are okay, the plugs can be connected with the
RS.
Before the connection to the line terminators are made, the resistors on the LT have to be
checked with a multimeter. Measure resistor 1 between the connections L1 and RTN,
measure resistor 2 between the connections L2 and RTN. The value for each resistor is
75 Ohm ± 2%.
If the value does not comply with the stated value, the LT absolutely must be replaced,
because otherwise during normal operation undefinable malfunctions may occur.
If all values are okay, the connection of the data line to the LTs can be made.
Guarantee, that all RS have been addressed according to the wiring diagram.
All RSs have to function faultlessly and can be checked with the Service Tool in the self-test
mode (refer to following page).
