ModelSim PE Student Edition Installation Guide

ModelSim is a multi-language HDL simulation environment by Mentor Graphics,


used for simulation of hardware description languages such as VHDL, Verilog and
SystemC, and includes a built-in C debugger.
ModelSim PE Student Edition is intended for use by students in pursuit of their
academic coursework and basic educational projects.

1. Download ModelSim PE Student Edition software in the link shown below:

2. You need to register first before you can download the software. But if you already
have an existing account just log in. I recommend using your UE email in the
registration process.
3. Accept the License Agreement.

4. After your registration, you need to check your email to download the installer.
5. You will receive a link to your registered email. Just click on the download link for
the installation file (~350 MB).

6. Click the downloaded .exe file to install the software.


7. This is the set-up environment of ModelSim. Click Next.

8. Click Yes.

9. Click Next.
10. Click Next.

11. Click Yes.

12. Click Yes.


13. Click Finish.

14. After a successful installation, you will be redirected to this website. Please take
note to fill-up all the required fields. Also be sure to type your correct email address
because the license file will be sent to your email address. Click Request License
when you’re done.
15. Check your email to download the license file and the final instruction. Download
the student_license.dat

16. See to it that you copy or save the license file in the correct directory to avoid error
during simulation.
17. Run ModelSim to verify that it was installed successfully with the license file.
