Module Exam 1 – General Concepts and Historical Developments

Instructions: In this module exam on the Historical Antecedents of Science and


Technology, I test your knowledge and understanding of the importance of history in
judging the current state of science and technology in the Philippines. The individual
essay exam shall trace the history of your chosen field of science and technology in the
Philippines, rather than just a broad account of the overall local history of Science and
Technology. Based on the history, you will argue why the state should provide more
support on the area of Science and Technology of your choice. It is encouraged that the
essay follows the following structure:

Part I - Trace the history of your chosen field of science and technology (specific to the
Philippines) [three paragraphs].

Part II - Argue three reasons why the Philippine government should provide support to
your chosen field [three paragraphs].

Part III - Closing argument (summarize your ideas in one insightful and thought-
provoking paragraph.

As I explained in class, I am not particular with the number of words, but on your ability
to explain and argue. Thus, I want you to write on an area of Science and Technology
you can passionately relate to in order that you will be able to come up with something
sincere, relevant, and relatable.

Use Times New Roman, Calibri or Arial, Font 12, single space, justified.
