Embracing The Highest Quality Standards

GE has adopted an approach to quality called Six Sigma. The goal of Six Sigma is
to deliver the highest quality products and services to our customers. Six Sigma is
a quality and reliability benchmark defined as 3.4 defects per million opportunities.
The Six Sigma Quality Initiative at GE Fanuc is a strategic focus to ensure that
each and every customer is 100% satisfied with the products and services we provide.
In addition, Six Sigma is focused on increasing the speed of getting high quality
products to market and doing so at the lowest possible cost.
Six Sigma starts with the premise that you can’t improve what you don’t measure.
CIMPLICITY software has become a corporate standard at GE and is used extensively
for the collection, analysis and presentation of statistical quality data.
For our customers, Six Sigma means getting what you want, when you want it,
on time, undamaged and working — the five "critical to quality" factors, or CTQs,
that have been identified in the early stages of our efforts.
At GE Fanuc, we are working to get every process in our business to achieve
Six Sigma quality levels. In Engineering, CIMPLICITY is being used to measure and
display key customer and product CTQs. In Manufacturing, processes are constantly
monitored and tuned to build product at Six Sigma levels. In Sales & Marketing,
focus is applied to be sure that each interaction between the customer and GE Fanuc
is the best it can be.
In short, Six Sigma has changed GE Fanuc. It is now the way we work and is
involved in everything we do and in every product we design.
