WEEKLY SOLAS INSPECTION - CHECKLISTS

Remove cover and check that it is


undamaged and cover-lashings release
easily. Check boat is positioned correctly
on the stowage cradle and check boat
lashings release easily and then re-
fasten. Check launching equipment
(wires, shackle etc.) for damage,
corrosive wear etc.

Boat Equipment Check: visually check


that the equipment is correctly stowed
and secured in the boat, Replace any
equipment that is damaged or in
unsealed or opened bags. (As per
inventory list).
Check painter release mechanism
opens on pulling release handgrip and
then re-closes.
Check that the fuel tanks are full and
fuel hoses are properly connected
Check the condition of batteries. Battery
charging status.
Boat Inflation - Using the pump provided
inflate each chamber of the boat.
Test all Emergency Embarkation lights

clearly marked. Grab lines are to be
checked for their proper fixing on the
lifebuoy.
Self activating lights are to be
checked for proper operation (where
possible).

On board of tankers it is to ensure


that attached lights in gas hazardous
areas are of intrinsically safe type.
Check filling holes are plugged/
sealed and secure and no ingress of
water.

Inspect Rescue and Safety


Harnesses for damage to webbing or
buckles. Damaged harnesses
must be condemned, mutilated,
discarded and replaced.

Inspect rescue lines (minimum


circumference 63 mm) for damage or
contamination by oil or paint.
Replace any lines immediately, when
damage is evident or suspected.

Lightly coat all metal parts of


harnesses with “Vaseline” or similar
lubricant to prevent corrosion.

Note: In addition to above described


routine, all Safety Harnesses and
Belts should be always checked
before being used.
