Application of Geometry in Higher Education

Geometry is an important branch of mathematics that develops critical thinking and problem solving skills. It is used in science, art, and many fields due to the prevalence of geometric shapes in our lives and the world. Geometry has applications in areas like art, architecture, physics, and other branches of mathematics. It is used to calculate area, perimeter, volume, and in various occupations like mechanical engineering, surveying, mathematics, astronomy, and graphic design.

Application of Geometry in Higher Education

Geometry :

Geometry, an important branch of Mathematics, has a place in education for the development of
critical thinking and problem solving, furthermore, that geometrical shapes are parts of our lives as
they appear almost everywhere, geometry is utilized in science and art as well.

The applications of geometry :

These include the concepts of point, line, plane, distance, angle, surface, and curve, as well as the
more advanced notions of topology and manifold. Geometry has applications to many fields, including
art, architecture, physics, as well as to other branches of mathematics.

When do we use geometry :

1. Area.
2. Perimeter.
3. Volume.

Uses of geometry in various occupations :

1. Mechanical Engineer :
A mechanical engineer designs machines ranging from tiny gear sets to large construction
cranes using geometry.
2. Surveyor :

A surveyor uses trigonometry, a brunch of geometry , to measure distances and angles

between points on land.

3. Mathematician :

A mathematician uses sophisticated conceptual tools to investigate the properties of shapes.

4. Astronomer ;

Many of ideas an astronomer uses are applications of geometry.

5. Graphic Designer :
A graphic designer studies how basic geometric shapes combine into artistic visual layouts in
two and three dimensions.
