Cayo Corolianus was a military hero from Roma.

He fought and win many battles in the middle


of V century B.C., He was on the battle camp the most time, and only a few Roman known him
personally, then he became in a legend.
In 454 B.C., Coriolanus decided to use his fame for enter in politics, he wanted to be consul,
then he had to offer a discourse to people, because that was the tradition.
He showed to people his scars that it was result of seven years fighting for Rome and he gave
his discourse, but no one listened his discourse because everybody was moved for his patriotism
and his sacrifice. His success was almost guaranteed.
The election day Coriolanus had an attitude arrogant and immediately started his second
discourse which was insolent, he say that he was sure he would win and he boasted about his
victories in battle, he did accusations with aggressiveness and he did speculations about wealth
the he would found for Rome. The people felt confuse for Coriolanus’s excess of confidence in
his election result, in this opportunity the people listened his discourse and they realized that
their hero was a conceited.
The Coriolanus’s news was spread for all Rome, and the people were met in masse for ensure
Coriolanus was not elect. Defeated, Coriolanus returned to battlefield, he was bitter, and he
swore revenge to the people who voted against him. Some weeks after, arrived at Rome an
important shipment of grains. The senate was propagating for the free distribution to the people,
but when they want to discuss this decision Coriolanus appeared, and did a discourse and said
that the this is a bad decision because this kind of distribution would be bad for the city and
several senators joined to him and the distribution failure.
Coriolanus condemned the basic concept of democracy and he propose erase the commoner
class and the tribune and give the govern to patricians. Finally, the discourse of Coriolanus
arrived to the people, and they were very upset, many unrest were make and the senate hurried
to deliver the grains free to the people.
The people were satisfied for the grains but, also, they want a public apology from Coriolanus
and if he shows himself sorry the people would allow him to retorn to battlefield.
Coriolanus appear for last time before the people, he was listened in silence, but he started to
talk each more and more aggressive until he started to talk abuse, he was arrogant but while he
was speaking the people were get fury and finally he was silenced for screams.
After an internal consult, the tribunes condemned to dead to Coriolanus and ordered that he was
taken to the Tarpeya stone and dropped to abyss. The people were exited for this decision.
Although, the patrician achieved intervene and the sentence was commuted, and Coriolanus was
condemned banishment for life.
