Absence Management uses the work schedule to calculate an absence duration if the absence type
unit of measure (UoM) = {Hours or Days}. The absence duration calculation is based on the following
hierarchy:
1. Work schedules, built of shifts and patterns. These can be assigned directly to an
assignment or placed in the organizational hierarchy. If not found, then option 2 is
evaluated.
2. Work hours stored on the assignment, most commonly as number of hours per
week including the granularity of the hours per day of the week. If not found, then
option 3 is evaluated.
3. Standard hard-coded work week of Monday - Friday, 8.5 hours.

absence scheduling pages for that absence type. Associate one of these delivered patterns: •
