Mark Jay Mantuano: Are you an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW)?
Dulce: Yes

Mark Jay: In what country do you work?


Dulce: Qatar

Mark Jay: How long have you been working abroad?


Dulce: 5 years

Mark Jay: Why did you consider working abroad instead of working in your own
country?
Dulce: One reason is to gain new experience from a different culture and the
other is financial reason. Working abroad will give you an opportunity for a higher
salary.

Mark Jay: How is your life as an OFW?


Dulce: Being an OFW is hard as you would have to bear the times being away
from your family.

Mark Jay: What are the advantages of being an OFW?


Dulce: It was good being able to learn new experiences and interact with
different nationalities, higher salary compared to my previous work, experience different
cultures and traditions, and you will learn how to be independent and adaptable.

Mark Jay: How about the disadvantages of being an OFW?


Dulce: Bear the feeling of loneliness being away from your family, not able to
enjoy the traditional holidays at home country, and you may encounter rude and racist
people.
Mark Jay: Would you like to permanently stay to the country where you are currently
working?
Dulce: No

Rona: Doha, Qatar

Mark Jay: How long have you been working abroad?


Rona: 8 years

Mark Jay: Why did you consider working abroad instead of working in your own
country?
Rona: You get to earn more than what you can earn here and you are now able
to provide a better future for your family. Jobs abroad pays better than here. Moving to a
new country to start a new job will undoubtedly push you out of your comfort zone.

Mark Jay: How is your life as an OFW?


Rona: Life abroad is not as easy as it seems. Being away from the family for 8
years and seeing them once a year is not a joke. But thank God there is social media.

Mark Jay: What are the advantages of being an OFW?


Rona: The advantages of being an OFW is your salary is better than here, and
you gain international experience.

Mark Jay: How about the disadvantages of being an OFW?


Rona: Discrimination from other nationalities, not able to enjoy all the occasions
back in the Philippines.

Mark Jay: Would you like to permanently stay to the country where you are currently
working?
Rona: No
