A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science 3

The document provides a detailed lesson plan for a Grade 3 science class that aims to teach students about the three phases of matter - solid, liquid, and gas. The 1-hour lesson includes learning objectives, materials, and activities such as identifying real-world examples of each phase, describing their characteristics, and performing a matching activity to demonstrate understanding. The lesson concludes with an assessment to check students' mastery of differentiating between solids, liquids, and gases.

Grade 3
Prepared by: Villanueva, Lauren may O.
Section: Beed-203

Parts of the Lesson Contents and Activities

I. Learning Objectives During and after the 1 hour session, at least 85% of the pupils will:

Cognitive: Identify the three phases of matter

Describe the characteristics of the three phases of matter.

Psychomotor: Perform the knowledge about phases of matter in their activity.

Affective: Follow properly the safety rules in their activity.

Value: Cooperation, Appreciating the different object around us.

II. Subject Matter Phases of matter

Skills: Observing, identifying, describing, enumerating

Science Concept: Matter is anything occupies space and has mass

Matter has three states/phases: Solid, Liquid, Gas
Instructional Materials Pictures, real objects, speaker, cartolina’s/chart
Reference Department of Education-Instructional materials Council Secretariat (DEPED-IMCS) page.1-33
III. Learning Activities A. Preliminaries

P- Matter
T- Matter is anything that occupies space and weight.
And all things around us is a matter. Even the air we breathe is a also a matter.

Children there are three phases of matter these are solid, liquid, gas

T- The first one is Solid, solid has a definite shape that occupy spaces, solids can be held and
seen (teacher holding the stone presented a while ago) Please come in front and touch the
stone.
Describe what you feel.
P- (The pupil will describe the stone)

P- No
T- Air cannot be seen because it’s colorless, but it can be felt.
There are also gases that can be seen like smoke and clouds (pictures of clouds and smoke)
Let us more examples so that you can differentiate and identify the three states of matter. You
are going to have a activity.

Generalization T- Again, what do we call the things around us? Again, what do we call the things around us?

T- Who wants to answer the first one? Which one is solid?

P- The hollow blocks
T- Very good, can you touch the flowers?
P- Yes teacher
T- What about the state of matter that can be poured?
P- The bottled water teacher
T- And lastly the state of matter that cannot be felt?
