    Potassium methyl siliconate (SS WR 100) is an aqueous solution that can be used to make masonry surfaces water-repellent without reducing water vapor permeability. It reacts with carbon dioxide in the air to impart water-repellent properties. SS WR 100 can reduce water absorption in substrates like concrete, clay roof tiles and bricks. This prevents damage from freeze-thaw cycles, efflorescence and growth of organisms. It is colorless, penetrating and breathable. Dilution rates vary from 0.5-0.75% by weight of cement or 1:20-1:30 for strongly absorbent bricks.
