• Use Adobe Photoshop to prepare exercise solution.

Learning Outcome:

After completing this exercise, you shall be able to:

• Remove the background of a picture.


• Change the background color of a picture.
Problem Statement

John is a college boy. He wants to impress his friends by showing them his picture in amazing
background. For this, he hires a freelancer (Graphic Designer) to change the background of the picture
that must be catchy and appealing.

Hint: Your task is to remove the existing background and change it to some exciting background instead
of plain white background.
Try to be creative and come up with some interesting background ideas such as landscape, cityscapes or
some famous places.

1. After completing the task, take a screenshot of the picture.


2. Also take a screenshot of the Layer Panel.
3. Insert all screenshots of above-mentioned tasks in a MS Word file and upload it on the LMS. (MS
Word file is mandatory)

Note:

• Keep your work in layers, don’t merge layers after completing the task.
• Don’t forget to save your work file properly after completing the task.

Solution

1. Select a Pen Tool from the Tool bar.

2. Make a path of the picture with the Pen Tool.


3. After completing the picture, join the anchor points.

4. Right click on the mouse then select the Make Selection Tool.
5. A pop up menu will appear. In the Feather Radius box, enter the according to your image.

6. Click on OK.
7. Now press Ctrl+J to create the new layer of the selection.

7. Now, you can set the background according to the requirement.
