The École Polytechnique Executive Master is a degree program similar to an Executive

in an international perspective. Like the EMBA, there are courses on core managerial skills

professional/personal development. What makes this program unique is that the Executive

cover a dozen of key technological areas: new energies, new materials, artificial intelli-
gence, internet of things, biomedical engineering, etc.

This Executive Master offers participants:

OUR STRONG POINT

Our strong differentiating point is the series of “State of the Art” modules. They cover the
main technological areas that are at the center of a lot of today’s innovations. These
modules are provided by research professors from École Polytechnique and other cut-
ting-edge scientific institutions as well as business leaders.

“I decided to join the Executive Master program as I’m currently the Chief Technical Officer and a member
of the Board of my company. I need to be able to understand how business models are evolving, how to
adapt my business accordingly and at what pace I should be developing it.”
Johann Vo Van
Chief Technical Officer
LCDC Telecoms

“I joined this program for two reasons. Firstly, I was looking for a way to boost my career and broaden my
skillset. Secondly, coming from a business school background, I rounded off my profile by developing my
capacities in leadership and by gaining a strategic view in relation to management and innovation.”

OUR GOAL

Companies can no longer rely on pure business concepts when new technologies are
reinventing the way business is done. They need to have leaders and decision makers that
can understand and function in both business and technological worlds.

The main goal of the École Polytechnique Executive Master is to provide professionals with key
knowledge and skills making them capable of linking business, technology and innovation.

“I joined the École Polytechnique Executive Master because I strongly believe the energy world
and the new technology world are going to be closely intertwined. The Executive Master gave
me the answers that I was looking for to be able to better develop the synergies that are re-
quired in the energy and the new technology sectors.”
Abdul Qadir Malik
Head of Education and Youth Inclusion - CRS/ESC Total

“I’ve been working in the oil and gas sector for almost thirty years now. I wanted to open myself
up to other types of technology to see what they could bring to my industry and my company,
while also extending my skill set, particularly in terms of my capacity for innovating to create
more value.”

you have to manage this innovation and how to use it in the most efficient way.
I have achieved three of my main expectations: stay up to date on innovation topics, from a strategic and
management perspective, being able to set in place the most efficient processes to develop a project,

INTERNATIONAL DYNAMICS

Europe

USA

The international components of the École Polytechnique Executive Master are a strong point of this
program. They allow participants to expand their understanding of management in an international and
technological business setting while in different economic and cultural environments.

To ensure that the program stays on top of the technological State of the Art developments, the partici-
pants are exposed through international modules to partner institution experts in Asia, Europe and the
USA.

Examples of past international modules:

Munich, Germany with Technical University of Munich (TUM)
Shanghai, China with various universities, companies and institutions
Berkeley, California, USA with University of California-Berkeley

“I joined the Executive Master for two main reasons. First, I wanted to learn more about leadership and
the management of new and disruptive technologies. Second, École Polytechnique is the #1 engineering
school in France, with a strong research background, which is important to develop my network, to beco-
me an alumni and to be able to exchange with the top research professionals.”

TEAM PROJECT

Participants are to complete a “Team Project” which will be a thread throughout the du-
ration of the program. These projects would typically cover the following issues: a growth
strategy for an established company, a new business/market development plan within an
established firm or a new company start-up/growth plan.

It is designed to fulfill several objectives:

➤ To develop participants’ ability to form and operate self-managed teams (usually teams of 4 partici-
pants).
➤ To provide an opportunity for participants to apply business concepts and theories developed in the
program to real management situations.
➤ To allow project leaders to conceive, plan and complete the project as a team and, subsequently,
offer additional value to the host company or the business creator.
➤ To immerse project members in a business venture very different from their daily occupations, thus
providing an environment for developing their capacity to adapt to unfamiliar business environ-
ments.
➤ To capitalize on the class’s intellectual richness through debates and exchanges that will occur about
the respective projects.
➤ To lay the grounds for an entrepreneurial career and encourage participants to launch innovative
projects or create their own company in the future.

development. It also came from the need for me to stay ahead of the curve while leading a transforma-

technologies, but also developing work reflexes that encourage me to adopt a “disruptive” approach
when dealing with technological issues at my company.”
