Grade IX Assignment II

This physics assignment document provides instructions for calculating moment of force in various conditions. It lists the objective of calculating moment of force and provides rubrics for grading answers. It then provides 11 example problems for calculating moment of force using the formula that moment of force equals force multiplied by the perpendicular distance from the pivot to the force. The student is asked to solve these problems showing their work and indicating the correct units.

Physics Assignment II

Topic : Moment of force

Objective :
Calculate the moment of force in various conditions

Name: Ayman Aqeel

Class: IX-A

Date of Issue : 19-12 – 2020

Last Date of Submission: 25-12-2020

Rubrics :
A. Answered all the questions very well, has written the formula, with full
working, correct unit and correct drawing wherever required.

[9 to 10 marks]

B. Answered all the questions without working, correct unit

[6 to 8 marks ]

C. Answered half of the questions with correct working, correct formula and unit.
[4 to 5 marks]

D. Only few of the questions have been answered.

[2 to 3 marks]

E. None of the question have been answered/ non submission of assignment.

[ 1 or 2 marks]
1. Moment of force = Force x Perpendicular distance from pivot to force.

= 6 x 2 = 12Nm

2. Moment of force = Force x Perpendicular distance from pivot

to force.

= 3 x 1.5 = 4.5Nm

3. Moment of force = Force x Perpendicular distance from pivot to force.

8=2xL

L = 8/2 = 4m

4. When Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment Then balanced forces.

Total clockwise moment: 5 x 2 = 10Nm

Total anticlockwise moment: 10 x 1 = 10 Nm (Balanced)

5. When Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment Then balanced forces.

Total clockwise moment: 15 x 8 = 120Nm

Total anticlockwise moment: 10 x 12 = 120Nm (Balanced)

6. When Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment Then balanced forces.

Total clockwise moment: 15 x 11 = 165Nm

Total anticlockwise moment: 20 x 8 = 160Nm (Unbalanced)

7. When Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment Then balanced forces.

Total clockwise moment: 5 x 3 = 15Nm

Total anticlockwise moment: 2 x 8 = 16Nm (Unbalanced)

8. Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment

50 x L=40 x 10

50L = 400 L = 400/50 = 8m

9. Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment

F x 5= 7 x 10

5F=70

F=70/5= 15 N
10. Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment

15 x 3 = F x 15

45 = 15F F=45/15 F=3 N

11. Total clockwise moment = Total anticlockwise moment

28 x L = 12 x 140

28L = 1680

L = 1680/28 =60m
