The Province of

Yamizaki

A once thriving land, Yamizaki has been thrown into chaos as war has broken out
between its provinces. It is an age of relentless wars, and the past eighty years have been
marred with endless cycles of death and destruction by bandits, mercenaries, disastrous battles
between Kingdoms, and the pillaging and devastation of the Yokai, their influence spreading
like a plague over a land once peaceful.

Nations once ruled by peaceful, earnest rulers, are now often fought over by power-
hungry clan lords and daimyos, seeking the title of Grand Emperor over the lands of Yamizaki,
ruling the continent from its seaboards to its deep deserts.

In the year of 1184, the Empire of Malos, the wealthiest kingdom in the nation for the
cultivation of their mines of precious gold, jewels, and coal, employed a group of cultists,
known as the Sable Tusks, to carry out a series of experiments in secret, to summon ancient
Yokai spirits that dwelled deep beneath the earth and to be used as a military fighting force to
conquer the other nations and spread their vast empire. However, the cultist organization had
other plans for their experiments. By collecting a large amount of live bodies from the
neighboring kingdom of Tralestia to the south with Malos’ military might, the Sable Tusks were
able to revive tens of thousands of dangerous Yokai, who would escape the laboratories of
Malos, invading the lands, wiping out their resources, their village populations, and the lands’
sense of safety. This event became known as the Great Summoning.

Somur, crushed by the waves of the demons leaking from the Southwest, would declare
war on Fujin to claim their rich resources of grain and iron to rebuild their economy. This in
turn, would eliminate the supply of these goods to other countries, who had attempted a rapid
industrial revolution: but as the countries began to experience these resource shortages from
the falling kingdoms of the west, the Kingdoms began to fight one another over their scarce
resources, until 25 years later, each kingdom would fall, one by one, with the vast empires
breaking down into smaller villages, and dissolving over the next 55 years into vassal states,
learning to live with the remaining Yokai and surviving through these lands, seeking power of
their own. The control of the territory of the empires is often disputed between clans in these
lands, each nation seeking their own betterment from one another. While the wars that once
claimed hundreds of thousands have lives have since died down, the fear and aggression from
the wartime period remains, with battles often breaking out between warring clans and
settlements.

However, the storm to come has yet to fall over this land has yet to come. While many
in this land come from environments uniquely marred by conflict, some people still yet try to
bring about change. Others have become what are known as Slayers, dedicated individuals
who use powerful techniques and martial styles to slay the demons that plague the land. Some
use their influence, power, and wealth to even employ the Yokai to serve their heinous houses.
Everyone has come to understand that their main goal in these dark lands is to survive, come
what may.

Malos

For many centuries, the Kingdom of Malos was a thriving nation and perhaps the
wealthiest, until it became a ground zero for a mass Yokai destruction that wiped out an entire
empire that had been spent for hundreds of centuries being built. It was once ruled by the
Grand Regent Demetrius, but after his greed captivated him to cultivate a force built from Yokai
to conquer the other lands, he fled the region to never be seen by his people again. While the
land has spent time rebuilding, several clans have vied over control of the region in land
disputes, especially over its precious mines.

- Senbu Region: Ruled by the Clan House of Senbu, the region is largely surrounded
by a large coastline, making the Senbu region an excellent fishing town, surrounded by
ports, docks, and markets, allowing them to control most of the trade in the region.
They have a relatively friendly relationship with the other three regions. This was the
birthplace of the former emperor, but it is now ruled by daimyo Shinobu Senbu, a
human who is known for his captivating personality.
- Agus Region: A barbarian Kingdom, established deep in the mines and colonized by
the laborers and soldiers of the kingdom, with an intricate cave living system. With the
greatest access to the deepest parts connecting the area to precious jewels and metals,
they have the strongest military in Malos, built from various Orcs, Beastfolk, Goliaths,
and Dwarves. The region is ruled by Hraevnor Agus, a dwarf whose unrelenting might in
his interpersonal relationships and in battle inspires fear and respect.

- Bellora Region: A region of forestry and mountains that are inhabited primarily by
Beastfolk. While not particularly a notable kingdom, they have a strained relationship
with the Chu Region over a 60 year clan dispute that ended in a long, bloody battle.
While the two regions are not actively at war, they often send spies to each other’s
lands. This place was said to be the birthplace of the Yokai, summoned deep within the
mountains known as the Scorpion’s Mouth. The region is ruled by Bathis Mantel, a
pelican Birdfolk with a stern but fair approach to political matters.

- Chu Region: An area largely populated by the remaining humans of the Malos
region’s southern front. Once the most thriving part of Malos, the region is now only
populated by only those who were powerful enough to fight off the demons who
invaded their gravelly, canyon-like lands, bordered by the sea to its west. They are
strained from within by a large population of weaker Yokai who never left the region
after the Great Summoning. However, the humans here are generally strong enough to
fend for themselves. They find themselves at contentious standing with the Chu region
as a result of their bloodstained history, as well as the Agus region, seeking to reclaim
the mines once belonging to the humans of Malos. The Chu region is ruled by Keisuke
Chu, a battle-hardened former bandit lord who is rumored to have made pacts with
remaining Yokai in the region to fulfill the original vision of King Demetrius. The house is
rather aggressive, and actively seeks to expand its control.

Tralestia
In part due to its close positioning near the underwater kingdom of Selvance, Tralestia
is considered by many to be the “Kingdom on the Water”. However, many of its population
were wiped in a systematic consumption of its people’s souls to create the large influx of
Yokai in the region. Nevertheless, Tralestia is still doing its best to thrive in face of the
conditions it has been met with over the past eighty years. It has a unique climate, as a
tropical, wet region with unique wildlife. Such flora and fauna establish Tralestia and its
lands as a major export for medicines, herbs, and exotic fruits and meats. It has perhaps the
highest population of Triton, Merfolk, and other aquatic species out of the remaining
nations.

- Porrick Region: The closest to the waterfront, Porrick is built on a system of black
coastal caves and tide pools, once extremely popular for tourism when friendly and
leisurely travel was possible in Yamazaki. Out of the three regions in this area, it is said
that only the clan that rules the region maintains any diplomatic contact with the
undersea kingdom of Selvance. The Porrick Region maintains a strong fishing economy,
which is perhaps its saving grace of the region’s welfare. The Kingdom worships Porrick,
the god of the seas, and they are thusly named for him. The region is ruled by the Deep
Atlantic Covenant, headed by Yanne, a half-triton Empress who is strongly traditional in
the ways of culture and religion in the area.

- Shalo Region: As one may travel further inward into the region, this territory is a
beautiful one with deep rainforests and jungles, but sadly sparse, as most of its
indigenous tribal population was used as a basis of experimentation for the Great
Summoning. Now, the stone cities of the people that once thrived here have been
inhabited by looters, bandits, and nomads. Some archaeologists and scholars of the
modern day oft make journeys to this place, seeking truths of the past. Despite a lack of
organization in the region, many bandit groups control different parts of ruins they
inhabit, claiming them for their own, leading to no regal rule.

- Patel Region: The home of the Mailai tribal people, distant cousins to Elves,
differentiated by the horns on their heads and their unique colored irises that glitter
when exposed to strong light sources, said to be able to see even through walls. The
region is thick with forestry, hills, and valleys, and villages are hidden within the trees,
generally not friendly toward unfamiliar visitors. However, most people that pass
through this region tend to fall unharmed as long as they do not directly attempt
confrontation with the locals. The region is ruled by a coalition of the Dube, Naro, and
Patel tribes, who share the land evenly.

Somur
A strongly divided nation, with each of the houses of the region strongly all being at
odds with one another, these warlike regions were struck hard by the invasion of the Yokai
directly into their land. Rather than unite the lords of the province against a common
enemy, an even greater wedge was driven between an already delicate balance, and a full-
scale war broke out within the region. Now, four clan houses are vying for power, enlisting
mercenaries and Yokai alike to fight for the glory and honor of their houses.

- Shursekin Region: Once a proud and noble region filled with beautiful hills and
meadows, the house that once ruled it has been driven to instability through the
madness of the former daimyo, who grew insane when the Magnomia house sent an
envoy to murder his daughter over a rare genetic mutation in her body which caused
one’s psionic aptitude to multiply, and even result in a strong lack of control. This
caused a war between the two regions, resulting in thousands dead, and as the conflict
dragged on between the two houses, the Rinnick and Fusmur regions were the
battlefields for the conflict of the two houses, eventually dragging both into self-
defense. Now, the control for territory is strict, with the Shursekin region driving its
once blossoming magical academia scene into the Gen region. The house is ruled by
Seto Shursekin, a human who is consumed by exacting revenge on the Magnomia
region, as his forefathers once were.

- Rinnick Region: The Rinnick region is home to the Vesper people, a wasp-like
people who dwell within large colony hives, with nests fused to hillsides and canyon
regions. The Rinnick region is difficult to pass through because of a combination of the
innate hostility of the nature of the Vesper people, and their hatred of foreigners as a
result of the collateral damage from the war between the Shursekin and Magnomia
houses. Even Yokai avoid these hives, as Vesper militias strike fear into anyone that
crosses their paths. The Rinnick region is ruled by various Vesper queens, and few lords
have any ambition to attempt to drive them out and rule the region of their own accord.

- Fusmur Region: A large mountainous region with steep cliffs that has proven
difficult for many to pass through: so, as a result, only one path leads through the heart
of the region, known as the Fusmur Stone Road. The Fusmur region, however, is split
between a population of Goatfolk, Firbolgs and Yokai, who dwell in Cliffside caves,
specifically designed to avoid the battles between the Shursekin and Magnomia houses.
The region is ruled by Ragon Fusmur, an elder among the Goatfolk who encourages
peaceful living, but encourages prejudiced destruction against enemies who would
threaten this way of life.

- Magnomia Region: This grassy, gnolly region, once ruled by Mindflayers who
were driven out by Gith, developed a culture of warriors who actively fear the return of
the Illithid people, as well as their psychic abilities that once enslaved the Gith. Now, the
Gith have learned instead to use the Yokai that have invaded the region as its defenders.
They have a longstanding conflict with the Shursekin region, as they once sent an envoy
to eliminate the heiress of their house to prevent her from developing similar psionic
abilities to the mindflayers: as a result, the Magnomia region is in a bloody conflict with
the Shursekin region. The Magnomia region is ruled by Daak’Leh, a territorial Githyanki
warlord.

Raudo’Fu

Howling winds in the northwest territory of Raudo’Fu highlight this land’s dangerous
climate, but regardless of these dangerous windstorms, Raudo’Fu is home to a number of
clans who thrive best in these conditions. With many mountains and highlands, Raudo’Fu is
a difficult land to travel through and even more difficult to invade: thus, out of all the
regions in Yamazaki, Raudo’Fu has the lowest population of yokai, but still not nonexistent,
either.

- Sen’Lai Region: The region home to the Unbending Oak, the largest tree in the entire
land of Yamazaki, which is bordered by the mountains to the east and west. Many
woodland beastfolk and the Pappalona make their home here. However, with the
infestation of Yokai, the Unbending Oak has slowly begun to wither, and the
sustainability of living within has causes a migration of many of the beastfolk who once
lived there to flee elsewhere. The land itself, which is supplied by the life force of the
Unbending Oak, has also begun to wither. Despite this, the Sen’Lai region is filled with
proud creatures that are willing to defend their homes to the death. The leader of this
region is Yun Sen’Lai, a wood elf, supported by a council of the various races which
inhabit the area.

- Sontobi Region: It is within this region that the winds rage the greatest of all the
provinces and regions, making travel through this region extremely difficult. Within this
region are steep mountain passes and series of craggy peaks that drop off into the icy
waters below, where it is said the Krakenborn reside. At the tops of the highest peaks in
Sontobi, the Birdfolk and Tengu coexist as the sole inhabitants of the region, save for
some airborne Yokai. The region does not have any clan leaders to speak of, as most of
the society is built on communal ideals, save for a council of elders that presides over
the region.

- Kite Region: The home of the Stonemen, walled off from the rest of the world, as the
plateau here grows very little, if any vegetation. The civilizations built in this land are
comprised of a series of labyrinths and underground caves. The stonemen coexist with
the Dour’Nok and some small Mountain Dwarf clans, and the product most exported
from this place is stone, mortar, and gravel. The Kite region is presided over by a small
council of the three races known as “The Wall”, who have dedicated themselves to the
protection of their mountain lands.
Kurosuna

Known as the land of Black Sand, Kurosuna is a primarily desert region, and the heartland
of Yamizaki. As it is a central point for travel, it is the most traveled through region.
However, an unprepared traveler ought to expect an arduous journey through the
sandstorm climates and the many Yokai that make their home here. As a result, Kurosuna
also has the highest population of Slayers, who make their living off of the destruction of
Yokai who have invaded the area and bred themselves into a strongly dominant force of the
region. However, it is a strong commercial center where transactions are made, and can be
considered to be the most culturally fruitful of the lands of Yamizaki.

Gen Region: Of all of the regions, the Gen region can be said to be the greatest home of
intellectuals and scholars. Many academies have been built here to study the many
pedagogical arts of science, engineering, mathematics, magicks, literature, and art. No one
race particularly inhabits the Gen region, as all different types of entities come to visit the
colleges and study. Because of the providence of learning within the nation, it is also
respectively governed by the deans of the various colleges who have built the institutions
that cause the region’s great financial success. Some say, however, Gen possesses secret
institutions that teach ancient dark arts sealed away long ago.

Sengo Region: The sandstorms find themselves most intense in this great land of barren
desert heat. Originally the home of the first generation of orcs and Pangol people, many of
the settlements in the Sengo region are nomadic. Beneath the region are sand caves,
hollowed through by inactive volcanoes deep beneath the Earth, where some say
sandworms and dragons dwell. Many clans often launch expeditions in this land to find
ancient artifacts and precious gems beneath these harsh sands.

Zakai Region: Once the dwelling of the proud Zakai house, an honorable and noble warrior
clan, their territory had been wiped entirely by invading Yokai. What was once a land of
oases and fortresses on soft sand and bedrock is now a haven for the Yokai of the region,
only warded off by the protections of the monasteries of the Kanto region. Travel through
the land is strongly discouraged, as safe passage with the hordes of bandits and demons
that patrol the area is almost impossible. Even the Yokai fight amongst each other for
control of the region, and thus, control of the region is split among different types of Yokai,
including the Oni, the Boarfolk, ravager Orcs, and other hostile creatures.

Kanto Region: A region named for the original Goddess of the Land, Kanto, who serves over
the hunt and the flora and fauna of Yamazaki. This is a region that has many wards
throughout the land to keep demons out, and is considered by many to be the Holy Land of
Yamazaki.. Like the Gen region, knowledge is a key factor for the inhabitants of the land,
with many libraries and archives being available for access, particularly on the subject of
religion. Despite some acolytes having disputes over their subjects of worship, a silent
agreement exists between the various monasteries of the region to protect the holy
grounds upon which the land exists. Surprisingly, despite the fact that the Kanto region is in
a desert environment, lush greenery can be seen all throughout the land. The area is ruled
by the Archbishop Zephilia, who oversees the activities of the Monastery of Kanto and
extends the protection of worship to other Gods.

Makoto Region: Bordered by the most educational regions of the heartland, the protections
of the regions near it force many demons outward from their locations. However, this is no
problem for the Makoto region, as it has a higher Slayer rate per capita than any other
region in all of Yamizaki. Weaker Yokai dare not enter these lands, as for them, it is a
guaranteed death sentence. Many who seek to become slayers come to the Makoto region
for education in battle, swordplay, and offensive magic. As per the populace of this region, a
Slayers’ guild known as the Tungsten Blades thus assumes authority of the region.
Surprisingly, Makoto is also said to be the cornerstone of fine cuisine, so thus, many master
chefs and sellswords coexist within the region’s borders.

Shiroyuki

Snow and ice permeate these harsh northern lands, where the species who thrive best in
the cold take their dwelling. The lords of the land are ruled by noble houses as opposed to
many other neighboring regions where guilds and councils rule: not many visitors come to
this land, which makes the political counsel of these lands, in a sense, territories marked by
corruption in the upper and lower houses of the families that dwell here. Some Yokai, such
as the infamous Yuki-Onna, make their dwelling here. Other species, such as the Auphalom
and Nightgaunts, call this region home. Some that seek to isolate themselves from the rest
of the world flock to this region.

- Shiro Region: The icy peaks of the Shiro region are borderline uninhabitable from the
extreme cold temperatures. However, the most daring adventurers seeking the exotic
meats from the wildlife here that can be found nowhere else, as well as diamond mines
deep within the mountains have led to many doomed expeditions by those unfamiliar
with the complex territory. Nonetheless, there are many people who still call the Shiro
region home, such as Bearfolk, Goliaths, and Illithids. In fact, in the far North, there is a
shrine dedicated to the Goddess of Ice, Nana, and the Goddess of the Hunt, Kanto. The
Region is ruled by house Shiro, led by the half-elf Reizuko Shiro, nicknamed “The Ice
Queen” for her cold, harsh personality.

- Yuki Region: Light snow falls here. During the day, children can be seen out and about
playing in the snow, but at night, Yokai wander the lands in search of prey. Ice Caves at
the base of the mountain are said to house dragons, but sightings are extremely rare.
Primarily Minotaur and Bearfolk call this region home, but it is the humans of the royal
Yuki house who have control over the region, led by the brash Duko Yuki, often
described as an impatient and greedy man.

Akaimura
A land stained by a long, bloody history of war between the Toguro, Yameyame, and
Shikami clans was exacerbated even further then the Yokai arrived in Akaimura. A three-
hundred year war still rages to this day, making Akaimura a land not popular with travelers.
Battlefields still stained with blood and corpses litter Akaimura, and orphans from war
wander the streets. While many idealists desperately seek peace in the region, the
instability only grows as sides are being taken in this conflict where many don’t even seem
to remember why they fight: only the bloodlusted noble houses and their passion for
violence govern this region.

Toguro Region: A cold, mountainous region inhabited by gnolls, goblins, orcs, tieflings,
Ettins, and the like. The region’s arid plateaus still contain ancient battlefields with soldiers
forgotten by time, with the residents taking refuge in the underdark corners, preparing for
the Yameyame and Shikami to invade. Soldiers are trained from childhood to kill regardless
of gender, and a culture of war is not only commonplace, but craved by its denizens. It is
ruled by the self-declared “Orc Emperor”, Gruumsh XII, who is widely considered to be a
warmonger.

Yameyame Region: The home of the Sharkin and Saguamek, who surfaced from the sea in
order to conquer the land, and have been fighting for centuries to establish their rightful
place in the Akaimura region. Known for their cultural attitudes of the glory of death in
battle, the warriors from the Yameyame lands are among the most fierce in the land. The
land is known for its red rock formations and crimson sands, said to be stained with the
blood of the damned who rose from the sea to claim their birthright. The land is ruled by
Mako Yameyame, nicknamed “The Megalodon”, for his colossal size and his deadly
performances on the battlefield.

Shikami Region: Perhaps the original inhabitants of the land, The Shikami are built from
humans, Nephalem, and Aasimar who have gained a taste for blood, building a garrison of
fearsome samurai who only have one purpose: serve the noble Shikami house through
blade and boon. Their legions are organized with brilliant strategy, accounted for by
generations of skilled tacticians that originate from the long bloodline of pure-blood
Shikami Aasimar warriors. The Shikami Region is the only place where the land where its
inhabitants dwell float above the ground, living in a flying capital. Some ancient Birdfolk
colonies also live in these floating chunks of land. The Shikami region is ruled by Yorinaga
Shikami, the fifteenth incarnation of Shikami generals and tacticians.

Baddoranzu
Nicknamed the “Badlands”, this arid canyon of wastes sees perhaps less development in
terms of wildlife and vegetation than even the dry desert lands bordering this province to
the west. However, many noble houses still make their homes here, and the region has
many natural species of its own. Swamps and wastelands are the most common kind of
climate within this province, and the extremely moist air often wears out those on long
journeys through the continent.

- Heiji Region: The Heiji region is split by a massive canyon known as the “Tarrasque’s
Bite”. Kobolds take refuge in the great cliffsides, hiding in the darkness and feeding on
the corpses of creatures that pass through the canyon, while Genasi float throughout
the land, descended from its primordial elementals. The Heiji region is said to be home
to troves of monster: and equally so, troves of treasure. This region is home to many
archaelogists and bandits who seek their cut of what lies here. It is ruled by House Heiji,
led by Nori Heiji, a corrupt and ruthless nobleman.
- Doro Region: A region dense with swampy lands and marsh territories, it’s home to
many monsters and Yokai who have grown fond of the environment. It is also the
natural territory of many sapient species, such as the Crocodilians, the Tortles, the
Kappa, the Thri-Kreen, Myconids, Lizardfolk and Hippofolk. Some Slayers also have taken
to this area because of its high population of demons, with there always being work to
be done. The region is ruled by house Doro, headed by Junpei Doro, who has dedicated
his career to building villages on the rough marshlands for its people: but with an
inclination towards exorbitant tax collection.

- Ai Region: Known as the “Land of Love”, the Ai region is home to Lamia, Nagas,
Harpies, and Succubi. Known for its beautiful men and women, the region is ripe with
brothels. However, after the Yokai invasion, such brothels have been abandoned and
been made home for bandits and Yokai. Some say a secret tunnel system connects all of
the dancing stages, brothels, and theaters that were once so famous. Some still put on
shows, when the time is right. Mostly, however, the land is covered in rain and mud.
The region is ruled by House Ai, led by Hanako Ai, a woman said to be the most beautiful
and with the sharpest wit in all of Yamizaki.

Elgrad
Elgrad is a vast forest land, inhabited by forest creatures, elves, and the Mailai’s sister
tribes. It is also the natural habitat of the Alraune, the plant people. Out of all the provinces
in Yamizaki, Elgrad is the only one that remains united, unbending to the expanding
territories of nearby lords and the violent influence of the Yokai. The fair Elven Empress,
Yulia, rules this region, and is generally well-loved by all of her constituents that she
represents. Her army is fierce, consisting of even Hill Giants who are willing to lay their lives
on the line for the peace that has been preserved in Elgrad. Yulia’s persuasiveness is quite
strong, as well: Oni, who are descended from the Yokai, have even taken up residence here
in Elgrad, pledging their loyalty to the empress. It is the only place where Ents and fairies
still dwell.

The forests here are deep, and wildlife that is found in Elgrad cannot be found anywhere
else. Poachers are prosecuted deeply in accordance with the laws that protect the forest.
Yulia claims to be a direct descendant of the Goddess of the Wild, Kanto – in fact, the
second largest shrine of Kanto resides her, outside of the region itself. There are said to be
ancient primordial beings that dwell in the deepest reaches of Elgrad’s forests, but none
have dared to travel so deep into the wilds of Elgrad. The cities mostly dwell within the
treetops, connected by a series of bridges that link from one place to the next. The
Squirrelfolk are the chief architects of this design, hollowing out trees to make homes and
connecting them.

Fujin
Fujin is known for is beautiful lakes, rivers and waterfalls that flow through the region. It is
the only place where Nymphs and Oozelings roam. The runoff from its largest river, the
Suijin river, flows directly through Parabichi and has the unique phenomenon of the
Sapphireback Salmon migration, which the region uses as a reliable food source. However,
the region is not without its flaws: they are ruled by corrupt daimyos and nobles who only
seek power for themselves. This region’s beauty is perhaps only marred by its rulers’ lust for
territory and the Yokai that plague the region.

- Taru Region: A region controlled once proud noble house, it was deposed after its
monarch was unexpectedly assassinated, and its leadership passed to Danzo Taru, a
ruthless, cold man who has a reputation for doing anything to get his way. However, it is
the location of Lake Shinsetsu, the largest lake in all of Yamazaki. Upon it is built the
Cherry Blossom Shrine, in a lakefront garden built in favor of the Goddess of the Moon,
Ro. It is said that on the night of the lunar eclipse, the lake glows a beautiful red color.

- Mashi Region: This region contains Yamizaki’s largest waterfall, which connects to
Suijin River and Lake Shinsetsu. Once ruled by the daimyo of the Mashi clan, Ryujin
Mashi, this rule crumbled with his unexpected death at the hands of his wives who he
was notorious for “collecting”. The Mashi Region has as a result fallen into disarray, with
rival clans now vying for the power void left in the house. This is the only place in
Yamizaki where Kirin can be seen, but sightings are extraordinarily rare – but said to
bring good luck to those fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of the majestic beast.
Despite the power conflicts in the region, many of the villages are rather peaceful.
- Chiba Region: The Chiba Region is home to the fields of the Centaur folk, where
they graze peacefully, alongside the beastfolk. Having no interest in politics, the centaur
people have driven the Lords seeking to control the region out, but often find
themselves in conflict with the Yokai and the armies seeking to control their plains.
Chiba is known for its “Forty Mile Rice field”, a gigantic rice field sustained by the
flowing river that is able to feed everyone: maintained by the Gastrosapiens who live
peacefully in tandem with the Centaurs. Despite having no noble control, it is led by
Zelfric, an esteemed centaur warrior king who is peaceful, but accepts no trouble from
outsiders.

Midori
Midori is a forested land in the nearby area, known for its entertainment sectors. Despite
the fact that the regions around it often find themselves in conflict, this nation is split into
two sectors who have declared a treaty through a single condition: their best warriors duel
once a year: this mediates a number of conflicts in the province, including military
superiority, keeping the morale of the citizenry high, and determining which region is
allowed to possess control of the massive Saltpeter mine that lies between the border of
the two territories in order to produce gunpowder. Fighters come from across the globe to
represent the two houses in this region. Outside of their conflict, both share a dense, green
forestry, with beautiful castles of the wealthy nobles lining the hills of the countryside.

Hikei Region: The northern realm of Midori boasts an impressive countryside view over the
coast, with vast, open meadows, with officials of the house encouraging travelers to move
there, even offering free patches of land for settlers to create homesteads, in exchange for
military assessments for the individual’s ability as a warrior: even if individuals aren’t
suitable, they are still allowed to move into the region in exchange for attendance at the
annual Saltpeter Bowl, where the champions of Shinrin and Hikei duke it out in blood-
shedding combat: as long as they offer their services in the Saltpeter mines. The Hikei
region is renowned for its vineyards, wineries, and bakeries, making it a common vacation
spot for the wealthy. It is ruled by House Hikei, led by Yosuke Hikei.

Shinrin Region: Perhaps more deeply forested than its Northern counterpart, this southern
realm has an extremely unique attraction – a charcoal powered luxury train, which wraps
around the mountains and forests of the region, based on the mining tools developed by
the brilliant minds of Shinrin. Built into the hillsides are large homes built for incoming
immigrants to operate the mines: as well as for fighters wishing to fight in the Saltpeter
Arena on behalf of the region in exchange for extreme luxury. The house is ruled by the
wealthy House Shinrin, led by Chisuke Shinrin, a lucrative businessman who is described as
a “strong idealist”.

Parabichi

White sand covers the coasts of Parabichi, and the shine of the sugary stones that cover
the land bordered with the sea draw many to the beautiful beaches of Parabichi. For many,
retiring to this beautiful haven is the end-all: of all the places on the continent, Parabichi
has the least Yokai: and surprisingly, not many slayers, either. For those who live here, it is a
paradise not yet scorched by the spreading evil that has come over the land: and thus,
presents itself as the last bastion of sanity in the hellscape that has been forged over a
nightmarish war. While Parabichi does hold its…darker secrets, the tranquility of the clean
seabreeze air makes this realm coveted by the artists across all of Yamazaki.

Sato Region: Home to the crabfolk, this friendly region is perhaps one of the few places left
untouched by the spreading corruption: friendly and kind locals, and minimal marauders
that come to this land. Halflings and gnomes practically infest the region, but the villages
they built are accommodating to travelers. The region is ripe with vegetation, making this
an ideal place to create a homestead atop the fresh earth that grows here. A shrine is built
here in dedication to the Goddess of the Land, with many locals regularly visiting, creating a
strong religious presence in the Sato region. Many of the villages are equidistant from one
another, almost virtually: in this circumstance, most places are easy to travel to on
horseback. The Sato region is ruled by House Sato, a royal house unique for being the only
one in Yamazaki that is chaired by halflings. It is led by Kishimoto Sato, a young Halfling with
a passion for doing what is right, guided by his morals.
Shinju Region: In an extremely unique pairing of populations, this is populated by a
combination of various races, but is the home of Gazerlings, descended from the blood of
Beholders, as well as Glaecorians, descended from the blood of Golems and Titans. As the
two are the only sapient life-forms that sustain themselves on a carbon-based diet, an
arrangement between the two races to excavate large salt deposits beneath Shinju creates
a beautiful harmony between the two races: which for invaders, make invading the region
an incredibly stupid option. Shinju acts as the military force which protects the Sato region,
causing a strong friendship between the two regions. Despite the fact that these two races
are the most densely populated in the region, the governing House Shinju is actually
human-led by Hana Shinju, who is fluent in many languages and acts as a translator for the
multiple languages that flourish throughout the state. The salt mines, deep caves beneath
the beaches, and the extension into lush floral fields make the Shinju Region one-of-a-kind,
attracting many visitors from all over the region. Some rumors, however, mention that
mysterious disappearances occur during New Moons in the Shinju Region: the truth of
which is either deeply hidden, or stretched to fit local lewgernds.
