Glass Manufacturing of Vials & Ampules

India is one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of pharmaceutical products in the world, with $19.1 billion in pharmaceutical exports in 2019. It has a skilled workforce and WHO-approved manufacturing facilities. Vials and ampoules are small glass containers primarily used in pharmaceutical and laboratory settings to store and preserve medications, chemicals, and liquids. Vials come in various sizes from 1ml to 150ml and shapes, while ampoules are sealed to prevent contamination and typically range from 2ml to over 8ml. The market for pharmaceutical glass vials and ampoules is expected to continue growing due to increased regulation and demand for stable drug delivery.

Glass Manufacturing of Vials & Ampules

India is one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of pharmaceutical products in the
world. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), the total export value of the
pharmaceutical industry in 2019 was USD 19.1 billion. The country also has huge R&D
operations. It is estimated that the top-ten Indian pharmaceutical companies (on an average)
invested over 8.6% of their revenues toward R&D.
India also has an advantage over many nations in terms of the basic production of
pharmaceutical products, primarily owing to the resources, such as high man-power,
knowledgeable work force, and WHO - GMP - approved production methodologies.

Vials

The bottom of a vial is often flat, unlike test tubes, which have usually a rounded bottom, but
this is often not the case for small hinge-cap or snap-top vials. The small bottle-shaped vials
typically used in laboratories are also known as bijou or McCartney's bottles. The bijou bottle
tends to be smaller, often with a volume of around 10 milliliters.
Market segment-: Mostly pharmaceutical companies, chemical & bio-tech colleges, testing labs
Different types -
 Crimp Neck 1ml-150ml
 Screw neck 1ml-50ml
Evolving significance of bio-tech drugs and cost sensitivity in the health-care sector, drug
delivery systems find themselves contending with increased requirements from a market shift
towards tighter regulations. Our most accurate production and gentle vial – handling to date
facilitates tight dimensions and premium surface quality that reliably ensures your products
shelf life.
Due to a need to accelerate time-to-market cycles and increase shelf life stability of bio-
pharmaceuticals, a keen interest in robust and cost efficient has leapt into the limelight. A
streamlined lyo cake is crucial for better-automated inspectabilty and indeed fundamentally
vital to the chief priority of ensuring patient safety. For crystalline formulations, any lensing
effect of the vial-bottom during freezing must be avoided.

Ampoule

An ampoule is a small sealed vial which is used to contain and preserve a sample, usually a solid
or liquid. Ampoule are made of glass. Modern ampules are most commonly used to contain
pharmaceuticals and chemicals that must be protected from air and contaminants.
Market segment-: Mostly pharmaceutical companies, chemical & bio-tech colleges, testing labs
Different types-:
 2ml
 3ml to 5ml
 6ml to 8ml
 8ml or more
Companies engaged in pharmaceutical packaging are increasingly focusing on minimizing errors
to ensure that correct and defect-free medicine reaches consumers. Pharmaceutical glass
ampules are extensively used in pharmaceutical and chemical laboratories to preserve and
store medicinal fluids, capsules, and liquids that are deployed in a range of pharmaceutical
applications. They’re predominantly used to prevent contamination and mix of medicines, and
have influenced the shelf life of products.
Pharmaceutical glass ampules find a range of applications in pharmaceuticals and have been
widely used to package inject-able drugs for several decades and the trend is set to continue
during the forecast period (2019-2027). The pharmaceutical glass ampules market is expected
to reach a value of $4 billion by the end of 2027.
