Notes:
To access the CLI you will need either to physically access the console or use a SSH client over the
network. Common SSH tools include Putty and SecureCRT in Windows and the Terminal in Linux.

Notes:
In additional to the standard CLI account five guardcli accounts exist (guardcli1,..,guardcli5) for
separate administration and to provide better accountability.

Example
• Login via ssh as guardcli1. The default password is ‘guardium’.
• You will be forced to change the password.
• Enter the user name of a GUI user
• This user must have the ‘admin’ or ‘cli’ role to use a guardcli account

All activity performed by this login will be tracked as CLI_USER+GUI_USER (guardcli+tjones)

within Guardium internal audit trail.

If time permits, have the students login as the cli user and run some of the commands on this and
the following slides. Make sure that they do not run ‘restart system’ as this will reboot their virtual
machines.

Notes:
When you first receive a InfoSphere Guardium appliance, you will need to rack it, provide power, and plug the
ethernet connection to eth0. Once the appliance is physically connected you must perform the initial
configuration on the console to make it accessible over the network. This configuration will need to be
completed with physical access to the appliance or remotely through a KVM solution or an optional DRAC
card installed in the appliance.

• Log into the console as the user ‘cli’, using the default password ‘guardium’
• You will be forced to change the password (see the ‘cli password requirements’ slide)
• Use the following commands to configure the network:
• store network interface ip <ip_address>
• store network interface mask <subnet_mask>
• store network routes def <default_router_ip>
• store network resolver 1 <resolver_1_ip>
• store network resolver 2 <resolver_2_ip>
• store network resolver 3 <resolver_3_ip>
• store system hostname <host_name>
• store system domain <domain_name>
• Enter ‘restart system’ when you have completed entering all of the above
• After the system has rebooted, log into the appliance from the console and confirm connectivity
• ping <default_router_ip>
• ping <resolver_1_ip>

If the ping test is successful you should now be able to work on the appliance over the network.
