Lab Report & Analysis

Poor
Report is mostly not done, may be unable to understand, and has errors.
Fair
Report is hastily done, student did not follow directions, and is incomplete. Answers are given in
sentence fragments.
Good
Report is mostly complete and neat, but minor details are missing. All Analysis/Conclusion
questions have been attempted, but sentences are not complete.
Excellent
Report is clear and includes answers to ALL questions, written in complete sentences.

Performance

Poor
Student attempts to do lab without reading or following directions, disregards safety, does not
clean up.
Fair
Student needs constant assistance, may need constant reminders of safety,
may leave materials out.
Good
Student follows written directions, may make minor safety infractions. Student cleans up as
directed.
Excellent
Student independently follows all directions as written or with permission to change written
directions, adheres to all safety rules, and cleans up as directed

Observations

Poor
Required work is incomplete and inaccurate.
Fair
Students partially record data and show lack of accuracy/care in making observations and
recording data. Diagram (if required) is inaccurate and incomplete.
Good
Students answer questions completely and accurately. Students make partial observations and
partial recording of data.
Excellent
Student answers questions completely and accurately including all required data and
charts/graphs if required.

Conclusions

Poor
Missing conclusion completely
Fair
Missing some parts of conclusion or knowledge gained
Good
Conclusions are present and complete, knowledge gained is present, but not clear and concise
Excellent
Clear and concise CONLUSIONS are given. Conclusion addresses problem and states
KNOWLEDGE GAINED
