PROPOSAL REVIEW QUESTIONNAIRE

Thank you for agreeing to review this book proposal.

Elsevier is committed to providing the very best engineering and science books. To ensure this quality in
bringing new titles to market, we rely on the expert feedback of those in the field. Please read through the
proposal and answer the following questions in as much detail as you can.

REVIEWER'S DETAILS

Name: Dileep. G

Employer and job role / academic affiliation: CEO, Advay power limited

Relevant professional / academic background: Ph.D in Solar power tracking.

Books / book chapters published in related fields (if applicable): Published a book on
“Distributed Generation and Smart Grid”.

AUDIENCE / COMPETITION

1. Based on your assessment of the proposal, in your view who is the audience for the
project?

Ans: Electric companies, professionals, students and researchers.

2. What do you think are the key knowledge and information needs this audience faces (in
relation to the field covered by this proposal)?

Ans: This audience generally needs knowledge on practical implementation of smart grid.
The technologies that are adequate for application and the challenges that may face, and
the methods to overcome it. Since smart grid is an evolving area and it requires expertise
from different engineering branches like, electrical engineering, communication
engineering and computer science engineering, they may face difficulty while integrating
all together. In this proposed book all areas are incorporated well. This book gives case
study and practical implementation details of smart grid technology. It covers regulatory
policy for energy storage, management strategy for the microgrid operation, home energy
management and residential load management, key performance indicators for smart grid
development, redesigning and enhancing current power networks, WSN based smart
communication, demand response and security issues mitigation in smart grid etc. Overall
contents in the book covers wide area and will be useful for researchers in this area.

a. Would the proposed book help to meet these needs?

Ans: Yes

b. What questions would you expect it to answer?

Ans: It gives case study, and practical implementation smart grid technologies. The
authors must ensure that they will add sufficient theoretical knowledge before giving case
study and practical implementation methods.

PROPOSAL REVIEW QUESTIONNAIRE
3. What would you be searching for that might lead you to this content?

4. Which books do you currently rate highly, in this field? (Please give full title, author and
publisher, and a brief comment on the key strengths and weaknesses of each title):

Ans: (1) Smart Grid: Fundamentals of Design and Analysis, James A. Momoh,
(2) Smart Grid Redefined: Transformation of the Electric Utility, Subramanian Vadari.
(3) Microgrids and Active Distribution Networks, S. Chowdhury, S.P. Chowdhury and P.
Crossley.
(4) Smart Grid, Integrating Renewable, Distributed and Efficient Energy, Fereidoon P.
Sioshansi.

5. What do you see as the main appeal of proposed book, in comparison with the
competition?

6. Would this title have stronger appeal in particular countries or regions?

Ans: This book have international appeal.

a. If so, what might be done to increase the international appeal?

Ans: The international appeal can be increased by adding case studies and examples
from different parts of the world. Case studies from Germany, China, USA, Netherlands
can be added to increase international appeal. I gave gave names of few nations where
smart grid technology developments are far ahead.

CONTENT / AUTHORSHIP

7. Is the proposed title appropriate? (If not, please suggest an alternative)

Ans: Yes

8. Do you consider the author/editor to be appropriate to write/edit a book on the topic
proposed?

Ans: Yes

9. Looking at the Table of Contents, are there

a. any topics that should be added or expanded?

Ans: With case studies and practical implementations the authors must make sure that
they book describes the theoretical part also. Advantages of each methods with
implementation challenges must be also given in detail.

b. any topics where the coverage should be reduced, or removed altogether?

Ans: No

c. any chapters that need more context or do not stand on their own?
PROPOSAL REVIEW QUESTIONNAIRE
Ans: No

10. What do you think are the main strengths and weaknesses of this proposal?

Ans: It gives case studies and practical implementation, it is a plus point. Wide area, from
home to utility side is covered in this proposal, it is also another plus point. Weakness is
that in the proposal much about theoretical part is not mentioned, before giving case study
and practical research the theoretical back ground must be given.

11. We encourage the use of multimedia in our online e-books. Please list any multimedia
features, such as photo-sets, audio, video, slideshows or other interactive content you
think would add value to this project:

Ans: Photosets and videos of smart grid technologies implemented practically will be good
if you can provide. The slideshows depicting how communication is made possible in
smart grid network and how data flow is carried out in smart grid will be also good.

12. Have you any suggestions that you have not already put forward to improve the
coverage, usefulness or value of the proposed title?

Ans: No

THE BOTTOM LINE

13. Would you personally purchase the proposed book?

Ans: No

14. Would you recommend the book to colleagues or students?

Ans: Yes

15. Would you recommend the book for your company or library to purchase?

Ans: Yes

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

16. Elsevier seeks to provide you with the highest quality content that helps solve your
information needs. Thinking about the last time you used book content in your work,
please describe why you needed the content, and what problem it helped solve?

Ans: While writing a tex book on “Distributed Generation and Smart Grid” I referred text
books. Since the area was I needed that content to understand the new technologies. The
contents that I referred helped me to learn and understand new technologies in power
grid.

17. What keywords do you use most regularly when looking for content electronically?
PROPOSAL REVIEW QUESTIONNAIRE
Ans: Generally I use keywords which are typically similar to my area of interest. Smart
Grid, distributed generation, grid automation are keywords I used.

18. Please suggest topics that you would like to see us publish.  What content do you feel
is missing in the marketplace?

Ans: I wish to see a book which includes case study of small micro grids for rural
electrification. Which are using solar, wind, biomass or small hydro plants. The work must
include all practical studies in different terrains. Hills, near rain forests, deserted areas etc.

19. Might you be interested in writing or editing a book for Elsevier? If so, please provide
brief details:

Ans: At present I am writing a book but it is not an electrical engineering book, it is on

psychology, spirituality and self study. Basically a spiritual book on awakening from illusion
of separation to reality of oneness.
