The key topics discussed are Airscale Hardware, Baseband Capacity, Commissioning, Integration & SW Upgrade, Common Alarms and Q&A.

Common alarms include 'Antenna Line Device failure', 'BTS Reference Clock Missing', 'GTP-U Path Failure', 'S1 Interface Setup failure', 'System Module Failure' or 'RF Module Failure'.

A 'Failure in Optical Interface' alarm could be due to a problem on the RP3 interface between the RF and SM modules, such as a broken SFP, damaged fiber cable, or a problem with the modules.

2)In FL/TL16A, full subrack configuration is seen as two logical eNBs, each composed of half
subrack. In Future releases, full subrack would be supported as one logical eNB

ABIA Capacity Plug in Unit (PIU):
• Cell specific baseband processing
• Up to 6 PIU in Subrack for flexible expansion of BTS baseband capacity
• RF Module connectivity
• 6 x OBSAI up to 6Gbps or 6x CPRI up to 9.8 Gbps
• Supported CPRI:
• CPRI-A for connecting fALU RF Module
• CPRI-N a.k.a. CPRI/L3 for connecting Nokia RF Modules
• RF1, RF2, RF3 interfaces support CPRI IQ compression 1)
1) If 3 CPRI ports are using IQ compression, then remaining 3 RF ports cannot be used.
CPRI compression allows reduction of data rate on RF Module - SM interface

Wideband Cell configurations supported in AirScale System Module

Capacity (with LTE2733 Baseband pooling activated)

• When Baseband Pooling is enabled:
• Up to 8 wideband cells is supported per BB pool (1/2 ABIA)
• The following wideband cell configurations are supported on AirScale SM within a Packed Cell Set (1/2 ABIA) using half ABIA baseband
capacity

Remarks:
• 2/2: 2x2 MIMO
• 4/4: 4x4, 4x2 or 2x4 MIMO
• 10 MHz cell can be replaced with 5MHz cell
• 20 MHz cell can be replaced with 15 MHz cell
• 1.4 MHz/3MHz cells are not supported with LTE2733 enabled 3)

3)LTE1130 Dynamic PUCCH allocation is a prerequisite for LTE2733 while LTE1130 does not support 1.4/3MHz. Extension coming with
LTE3643:Baseband pooling with 3 MHz and 1.4 MHz cells (beyond FL18)

Commissioning

Commissioning, Integration and SW upgrade of an Airscale LTE BTS site is done using the BTS Site
Manager.

Once connected to the BTS, the Site Manager contains a wizard which leads the user through the
commissioning steps.

Common Alarms

• “Antenna Line Device failure”: problem in the connection between RF module and Antenna
(including RET, MHA, combiners…)
• “BTS Reference Clock Missing”: the eNodeB is not receiving the sync reference signal from the
reference clock
• “Failure in Optical Interface”: this could be due to a problem on the RP3 interface between RF and
SM (broken SFP, damaged fiber cable, or problem with the modules)
• “GTP-U Path Failure”: U-Plane down. Check connectivity with the S-GW
• “Incompatible SW detected”: after a SW upgrade such alarm means that SM and RF or Transport
module are on different SW levels (or after replacing a faulty module)
• “S1 Interface Setup failure”: MME not reachable.
• “System Module Failure” or “RF Module Failure”
• etc
