What's The Role of The Data Coach?
There is a recurring problem when you assess the world of education and employment
which is best summed up as follows: talent is evenly distributed, opportunity is not.
Creating access to meaningful opportunities, at every stage in a person’s career, is why
WhiteHat exists.
We are challenging who gets access to the best careers, who gets to define what the
best learning and credentials look like, and what an apprenticeship means. For us it
goes beyond just work and training, and is also about community, identity and growth.
Our apprenticeships support people at all stages of their career; moving beyond the idea
of education as a shot of learning at the start, and our programmes are rooted in
applied learning; developing knowledge, skills and behaviours.
We have also had fantastic commercial success along the way. We raised a $16 million
Series A funding round in 2019, have been listed as one of LinkedIn’s top startups, a
Forbes ‘Ones to watch’ and won the ‘Sunday Times Fast Track Ones to Watch’ award.
In order to support our mission, we are expanding our delivery team with a data coach.
What’s the role of the data coach?
We are looking for a Data Coach to help deliver our 15 months data programme,
working with both established professionals, as well as those at the start of their career,
to develop the next generation of diverse leaders in the Data space.
As a Data Coach, you’ll be getting stuck into working with up to 50 apprentices, ensuring
they develop into highly successful, data-literate professionals. You’ll also be supporting
them with the softer skills that will help them in their jobs in data.
Your role will be a mixture of small group workshops and bootcamps plus one to one
sessions, and supporting apprentices working for a wide range of partner clients (e.g.
Santander, KPMG, Bloomberg)
The team?
Our data coaching team is an incredible mix of industry experts, teachers and
academics. We have Data Scientists who’ve worked at Microsoft, Doctors and actual
Scientists.
What does the programme I would be teaching look like?
You will be delivering a BCS Level 4 in Data Analysis qualification. The topics you will
teach will progress through the programme from starting with the data analytics
fundamentals such as Excel, SQL and visualisations like Tableau to teaching more
advanced data topics such as Big Data, Natural Language Processing, Python and R
programming.
Who are you?
You have a passion for all things, data analytics and data science.
You might be a teacher who loves data and is looking for a new challenge. You might be
finishing up your PhD and have loved being a lab or teaching assistant. You might be a
Data Scientist/Analyst who has a passion for people development and wants to share
your knowledge to the next generation!
You believe passionately in social mobility and the development of great data
professionals.
What's in it for you?
Apart from working with a smart, passionate and highly motivated team on a mission
you care about, you will also get:
● Equity. One of our core values is “we are all owners” so we make sure everyone
has a piece of the pie.
● 27 days holiday plus bank holidays to keep the tank topped up.
● Perkbox benefits, for everything from phone insurance to gym membership.
● Access to Spill, a mental health platform that will let you access video therapy
through Slack, making emotional support open to everyone in just a few clicks.
● Drinks, snacks and regular treats which can be enjoyed in the summer from the
balcony on the 5th floor and option to join our pub quiz every Friday.
