Energized Equipment or A Conductor.: - Dangerous Condition Where Someone Can or Does Make Electrical Contact With

The document discusses electrical safety hazards and procedures for students conducting electrical experiments in a laboratory. It identifies wet conditions, damaged tools or equipment, and improper personal protective equipment as hazards. It provides safety guidelines for each hazard, such as keeping hands and equipment dry, inspecting equipment for damage, and wearing proper clothing and closed-toe shoes. The document also notes that electrical injuries most commonly result from electrical shock which can cause burns or abnormal heart rhythm, especially when the skin is wet, and stresses the importance of students protecting themselves from injuries.

ELECTRICAL

-Dangerous condition where someone can or does make electrical contact with
energized equipment or a conductor.

1. HAZARDS
 Wet conditions
 Damaged tools and equipment
 Improper PPE ( Personal Protective Equipment)

2. SAFETYS
a) Wet conditions
- when students handling with electrical experiments ( ex; experiments in physics),
make sure hands and lab are dry.
-especially when plugging and unplugging power cords and extension cords.
-before students start with an experiment, they have to clear off the loose material or
hanging materials.

b) Damaged tools and equipment

- be sure students inspect the equipment before use it (students should always take
care and that can help a student not hurt)
-make sure that the switches and insulating part are in good condition. (students must
follow the safety instructions before handling electrical equipment).
-immediately replace all frayed or damaged electrical cords.

c) Improper PPE (Personal Protective equipment)

-when students enter the laboratory, they have to wear proper clothing (wear clothing
that is neither floppy nor too tight)
-students have to tie hair and roll up loose sleeves( students will comfortable to do
experiments).
-before entering the laboratory, students have to wear shoes and labcoats(this can
protect them from the electrical burn.

3. HEALTH
Students have always careful from the electrical injuries during the experiment,
-most of the injuries can happen when handling with electric is electrical shock
( when part of our body completes an electrical circuit, involves burns and abnormal
heart rhythm)-this because of the skin wet
-electrical burns are the most common shock-related non-fatal injury. It is caused by
energized electrical wiring or equipment.
-electrical burns can occur anywhere on the body, they most often occur on hands and
feet. (students have to protect themself from all the injuries).
