The document describes an experiment to measure the impact of a jet apparatus. It was submitted by 7 group members to their professor. The abstract explains that the experiment deals with fluid friction and how it causes wear and tear. The apparatus description is not explained. The procedure describes taking pressure readings before and after fluid passes through a duct to calculate pressure variation and flow rate. The conclusion is that fluid friction between layers and boundaries causes decreases in velocity and increases in pressure, leading to head and energy losses that change with pipe length and bore.

Abstract
Tribology being the super set of fluid friction deals with fluid friction and skin friction
that causes wear and tear in domestic and industrial applications. Plot of head loss and
velocity points out the laminar and turbulent flow regions along with the critical point of the
flow. Wear losses can be reduced by designing the parts so that flow remains in laminar
range.

Appratus Description

Procedure
 Open the all the desired valves to achieve desired flow rates.
 Work out to develop steady laminar flow of the fluid.
 Note the readings on the manometer before the entering the fluid in duct.
 Note the manometer reading at the end of the pipe.
 Calculate the variation in pressures.
 Calculate the flow rate.
Conclusion
The calculations and observations help us to conclude that the flow in the pipes show
decrease in velocity and the pressure increase due to fluid friction between the layers of the
fluid and the boundary layers. This causes us much head and energy loss woth change in the
length and bore of the pipe.
