TITLE: FIRST AID


1. Purpose : To ensure that first-aid facilities are provided for and available to staff and
workers/operator

To ensure compliance with Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations


and other requirements

2. Scope : This procedure is applicable to the office and production.

3. Reference : Workplace Safety and Health (First-Aid) Regulations


Employment Act Section 93

4. Definition :

4.1 First-Aid means:

4.1.1 A case where a person will need help from a medical practitioner or nurse, treatment for
the purpose of preserving life and minimising the consequences of injury and illness such
help is obtained; and

4.1.2 Treatment of minor injuries, which would otherwise receive no treatment or which, do not
need treatment by a medical practitioner or nurse.

5. Responsibility :

5.1 It is the responsibility of the Department Manager/ designated Person-in-charge (PIC), WSH
personnel/ Supervisor to ensure that first-aid box with the appropriate content is available and
maintained at the workplace at all times.

6. Procedure :

6.1 The Department Manager/ PIC shall ensure that sufficient number of trained first-aiders is available to
render first-aid care. (See attachment 7.1)

6.2 The WSH personnel/ Supervisor/ First Aider shall ensure that the content of the first-aid box at the
workplace comply with Workplace Safety and Health (First-aid) Regulations, and replenish the
supplies regularly. (See attachment 7.2)

6.3 During routine inspection, the WSH personnel/ Supervisor shall check the first-aid boxes for
completeness.

6.4 The WSH personnel/ Supervisor shall ensure that first-aid boxes are labelled, and a list of the content
shall be placed inside the box for ease of checking.

TITLE: FIRST AID


6.5 The WSH personnel/ Supervisor shall also ensure that the names, photos and contact information of
the appointed first-aiders are displayed so that staff and workers are aware whom to approach to
get help.

6.6 A log book to record first-aid treatment rendered shall be available. The first-aiders shall fill up and
record treatment given in the log book. The log book shall be checked by the WSH personnel/
Supervisor during inspections.

6.7 Information on number of cases of first-aid and their causes shall be discussed at safety meetings if the
Department Manager/ PIC have reasons to believe that certain hazards are not properly controlled.
